Drew came awake slowly, groaning a little at a crick in his neck. What the fuck? He'd been sleeping on the ground, sure, but now he seemed to remember the ground being slightly softer than what he was laying on. ...and possibly warmer. He opened his eyes, and blinked, not liking this at all. First of all--he'd slept again. Which meant he'd been drugged again and he always hated that. But what he was seeing? Oh...fuck.
fuck you

The first thing Joy was aware of was that she was a little cold. The second thing was that she had somehow been asleep standing up, supported by something. D cursed to himself as -- yet again -- he stepped on something that was fucking pointy and shitty. "Suuure, nigga. Pickin' up sticks. Goan' be easy, muhfuckah. Jus' wander 'round with all the woodland creatures, all Snow Black an' the Seven Dickheads an' shit, pick up nice pre-cut logs for firewood," he muttered sourly to himself. He paused under a tree that looked like it had branches that could be conceivably cut down and dragged. He hefted the axe that had been handed to him to do this shit with, and started swinging, gritting his teeth as it rubbed against blisters.
He was hating this bullshit more and more by the second.

WorkingWho: Anyone who wants to get a reaction in.
When: Morning.
Where: Chapel.
A lot of people were milling about, in shock and in need of hand-holding perhaps. After working out a tentative plan with Jason, Lina had rooted around in a closet until she found a pen and paper, and started scribbling out groups. Once she had things as good as she felt she'd get them, she stood up in front of the alter, put her fingers in her mouth, and whistled. Loudly.
"Listen up!" she ordered loudly in a clear, confident voice. "A lot of people have already taken some initiative and gotten to work, and that's great. For the rest of you, I know a lot of you guys are in shock, but we can't assume this is going to get better. The sun is up now, and the fire will burn itself out before long, and we need to prepare ourselves for what could be ahead. I'm assigning everyone into a work group, and you'll be expected to do your job, or give me a damn good reason why you can't - and then we'll find something else helpful for you to be doing."
There'd always be someone who didn't want to play nice, right? "Okay, here's where we're at! Andre, Zania, Bob, Nic, Dan, Ben, and Sarah are working on building shelters! Torlin has taken charge of vegetation gathering - berries or whatever you can find - and Artemis, Zhen, Davis, and Tisi are helping her out! Working with snares and traps for small game - that's Cortez, Aamir, Caél, and Laila! There are three fishing poles and lures - that's going to Vivian, Gwil, and Hannah!" Hey, the girl didn't need her eyes to hold a fishing pole. Someone could bait her hook for her, and if she got mouthy, they could just use one of Hannah's eyeballs. They were probably pretty enticing to a fish, and hey, Hannah wasn't using them anyway. She certainly went out of her way to make sure everyone knew that.
"Firewood gathering! Drew, Rin, D, Matt, and Ren. What you find, stack in piles at the side of the chapel! Millie and Kaori are handing out tents and deciding who is sleeping where, and Millie's also helping Dave with anything medical. Joy, Blair, Calvin - I want you guys sorting through everything that might be useful. That's here, the shed, and the boathouse - take anything that we might need back here and sort through it to be dealt with later. Sally, Twitch, Kaylin, Emma? There are canteens, and a sink in the back bathroom." Yes, a small bathroom with only a sink and a toilet. Lina was shocked to find it was actually working. "Each of you take two canteens, fill them, and make rounds to each group back and forth to make sure everyone stays hydrated! Kales and I are taking the bows and a couple four-wheelers deeper into the woods to look for deer. The ONLY people who have a right to not be doing anything are Janie, Gavin, Rebekah, Esmé, and Anna. Adam is going to stay behind to help watch after them or help if Dave, Millie, or Kaori need it. I want everyone meeting back here at sunset so we can touch base and see where we're at. Understood? Alright, let's go!"

Where: 2nd Floor
Zania was still awake when the knocking came at her door, her eyes having been glued to her monitor all night. The tall man in the checkered mask terrified her, and she was convinced that he'd be in her room the second she fell asleep. Her bathroom and closet door were still available, and until she had those taken care of, anyone could get in. All they needed was a chance. She'd been so busy keeping up with him that she didn't have a chance to try and see who might be outside her door, though now that she thought about it, a horrible squealing was coming from that direction as well. The cameras did little to help show her what might be making up, though they did show a box that hadn't been there moments before... at least, she hadn't seen it. If the noise wasn't coming from the box, it could have been there for hours, but Zania was betting that wasn't the case. A sweep of the second floor using the cameras showed that no one else was around, and the creepy doctor, if that's what he was, was busy with Hannah and Cortez. Slowly climbing off her bed, Zania made her way to the door and opened it slowly. Now she knew the noise was coming from the box, though she didn't want to open it. Somehow she knew this would be worse than the chicken.

Alright for a white girl
Submitted by backwards_d on Tue, 11/13/2007 - 19:08.Who: Zania and D
Where: The Ballroom
When: Late Morning
Zania was wandering in conjunction with her mind, feet taking her places without paying much attention while she pondered the changes she wanted to make to her life. First and foremost, there would be no more sleeping in boxes, and not just because of the note. It's a childish inclination and it needs to stop, she told herself. Second, she needed to stop relying on other people to keep her safe. When did that happen? I spent a year on the street, relying on no one but myself, but then... there'd been no one else to lean on. It has to stop, she decided. Gavin had been bad enough, but keeping Dorian in the box with her had been worse. Running to Lina that morning had been the breaking point. What was the point in that? No one can protect you but yourself. Suck it up. Make a change. These things she thought as she stepped into the ballroom, her bare feet quiet on the floor. It sounded as if she were alone, at least in the second.
She wasn't quite, but her company was unaware of her presence for the moment. D had gotten up late as per usual, and felt just ... restless. He'd done the bit of what he could the day before, but it hadn't actually done any good. Not that he cared much, it just seemed to inspire some nervous energy for some reason. So his aimless wandering with a bottle of orange juice had landed him in the ballroom, and currently he was fiddling with buttons and dials on the sound system that was there. This? Could be a badass room for some parties. ... if anybody actually ever felt like parties again. He couldn't help but feel like he'd missed out on the fun honeymoon stage of the house. He hit a button and a bassline kicked in, piped through all the speakers in the room, loud as all get-out. He laughed, delighted, and turned it down a notch or two.

Overdue Meeting
Submitted by 1inthechamber on Mon, 09/17/2007 - 20:14.Who: Open to all
When: 2 PM.
Where: The ballroom.
This felt a little weird. Lina had been to meetings and everything, and was never shy about voicing her opinions. But it still felt weird. She'd never been in charge of one before. Now she had called a meeting, and she was actually going to have to help direct it along. Well, this would be interesting.
At least it seemed like a lot of people had shown up. She hadn't done a headcount, but... maybe this would go okay. Lina waited a few minutes to make sure everyone who had intended on showing up had, and cleared her throat. "Okay, let's just get started." she said. "What I want out of this is for everyone to know who they're living with. Who their neighbors are, which people are on their floor, that kind of thing. I'd like for everyone to go around and introduce themselves, and say what floor they're on. After that we can talk about any concerns or questions anyone has."
I feel like a goddamn camp counselor. she thought, wanting to pull a face. She didn't. She just introduced herself like a good little authority figure, and had everyone else go around the room and do the same. She'd brought a list with her, and she made sure to mark off every person that introduced themselves. It'd be good to look at the people that didn't show up later.
Once everyone had introduced themselves... "Okay. Does anyone have anything they want to say or ask about any house issues?"
Snake Attack!
Submitted by broken_doll on Thu, 08/16/2007 - 14:22.Who: Zania and D
Where: Zan's Room, 2nd Floor
When: Early Morning
Zania was nice and warm and curled up in her bed. She was not in a box. There was no siren going off. Everything seemed as it should be. She shifted slightly, trying to roll from her back to her side, but her left leg felt heavier than usual. She moved again and something tightened painfully around it. Zania whined quickly, rubbing her eyes and tried to kick her leg, but that only made it worse. Somehow she'd gotten the sheets wrapped around her, she supposed, and sat up to push them back and untangle herself.
Even in the dim light of the room, she could see what was there, and immediately she started screaming. Words came frantically, spouted in Italian, as she pushed at the thing on her leg, yet almost too afraid to really touch it. It just seemed to get tighter and Zania screamed louder, finally realizing the word 'help' would be beneficial. It had been quiet. Surely someone would hear her.
Surely someone would come and help her free the boa constrictor from around her leg. Until then, she screamed, trying her best to get it off before it tried to eat her foot.
And, Finally, The Second Floor....
Submitted by sallyanndoll on Sat, 08/04/2007 - 14:28.Who: Morgan and open to 2nd floor residents

Where: The 2nd floor... obviously
Morgan moaned and tried to drown out the noise with a pillow over her head as soon as the siren started. She felt like utter crap and there was no way she was willing to deal with this while she was trying to sleep. Once it quickly became apparent the siren wasn't going to stop on its own, she made every effort to leave her bed. Unfortunately, this resulted in Morgan upending herself in a tangle of bedsheets on the hardwood floor, which did not make her any happier.
Managing to free herself from the sheets, she crawled toward her bedroom door, arms feeling like jelly and, after two or three passes at the doorknob, managed to tumble into the foyer. The siren was louder outside her bedroom door, but Morgan had to fight every instinct just to curl up where she was and go back to sleep. Man, this sucked.
