Public Journal Entry - APRIL 5, 2006

To my secret admirer:

This house is just one big box.

With a lid on it, even.

Go fuck yourself.

Another Round of Drinks

Who: Nic and Lina
Where: The Billiards Room
When: Night

By the end of the day, Nic was more than ready for a drink. He needed one, especially after talking to Matt earlier. If there was ever a man to make him feel like their future was bleak, it was Matt, at least at the moment. He hated the change he saw in his friend, from happy-go-lucky to pessimistic and depressed. And he blamed the scientists for that, for taking Jacie away from him. It still blew his mind that Matt had no way of contacting her, that they hadn't set up something so that they'd be together when they got out. If he lost Dan in a similar manner, he suspected he'd be much worse off himself. It was why they'd talked about it, prepared themselves as best they could. Still, nothing worked out exactly as suspected, at least in this house. Planning ahead was futile, it seemed, but they had to keep trying.

Who: Matt and Nic
When: Afternoon
Where: Game Room B

Laila's note that morning had had an odd effect on Matt - it made him feel guilty. Not that guilt in itself was an odd feeling for the man, but mostly it was due to the fact that he felt he was lacking. Because he had been watching the cameras. But he hadn't been watching the house, as he normally did. He'd been watching the lake - even if he hadn't fallen asleep at his keyboard, he still wouldn't have been watching the cameras to be able to see what happened to Laila. To Calvin. To Zhen. Especially to Zhen - she was his friend. She was one of the people he kept an eye on. And he'd failed her.

And so the morning had been spent away from his computer, mostly wandering the house, trying to find other things to concentrate on. But midday had found him in game room B, staring out of the window. The room overlooked the lake and it seemed to call to him. He saw something in the lake over the monitors. He'd seen nothing when he'd gone down to the shores. Maybe today he'd find a half way - this removed position. Maybe it would show him something.

Alright for a white girl

Who: Zania and D
Where: The Ballroom
When: Late Morning

Zania was wandering in conjunction with her mind, feet taking her places without paying much attention while she pondered the changes she wanted to make to her life. First and foremost, there would be no more sleeping in boxes, and not just because of the note. It's a childish inclination and it needs to stop, she told herself. Second, she needed to stop relying on other people to keep her safe. When did that happen? I spent a year on the street, relying on no one but myself, but then... there'd been no one else to lean on. It has to stop, she decided. Gavin had been bad enough, but keeping Dorian in the box with her had been worse. Running to Lina that morning had been the breaking point. What was the point in that? No one can protect you but yourself. Suck it up. Make a change. These things she thought as she stepped into the ballroom, her bare feet quiet on the floor. It sounded as if she were alone, at least in the second.

She wasn't quite, but her company was unaware of her presence for the moment. D had gotten up late as per usual, and felt just ... restless. He'd done the bit of what he could the day before, but it hadn't actually done any good. Not that he cared much, it just seemed to inspire some nervous energy for some reason. So his aimless wandering with a bottle of orange juice had landed him in the ballroom, and currently he was fiddling with buttons and dials on the sound system that was there. This? Could be a badass room for some parties. ... if anybody actually ever felt like parties again. He couldn't help but feel like he'd missed out on the fun honeymoon stage of the house. He hit a button and a bassline kicked in, piped through all the speakers in the room, loud as all get-out. He laughed, delighted, and turned it down a notch or two.

Private to the scientists

You people know what happened, so I'm not going to waste either of our time giving you a rundown. I'll just get to the point. You know who attacked me, and that's information I want. Now, one way or another I'm going to find out, but if you tell me it'll make things a hell of a lot simpler and I can promise entertainment will be had by all. So let's cut through all the bullshit and you go ahead and tell me what I want to know.

One Month Today

Who: Nic and Dan
Where: Their Room
When: Morning

Nic shifted beneath the covers, not wanting to get out of bed. It was a day for sleeping in and hiding beneath the covers. The events of the previous day still haunted him and it was all he could do not to run into Zhen's room and make sure she was there. At least he had easy enough access to checking on Dan, seeing as how he was there in the room with him. If he woke up to find the bed cold and the room empty, he wasn't sure what he would have done. One day's trauma had a lasting effect that took a bit to fade. One day was not enough. What would have happened if he'd been five minutes longer? Ten minutes? What if they hadn't realized she was missing? Or if she'd been one of the later people tied up, rather than the first. It was different than the fear of being strung up himself. Nic had never feared like this for the people around him and the possibility of Dan or Zhen being hurt was now very real. Calming his mind was far more difficult than he'd thought it would be. His body was tired, he'd not actually slept most of the night, and he was sore from carrying around a hundred pound Asian girl. Nic closed his eyes and sighed, wondering if sleep would come with the light of day. It seemed unlikely.

Annoyed

"Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king."

Private Journal Entry - APRIL 5, 2006

So much has happened in the past few days and it seems I've forgotten to write. Where do I start?

Wake Up Call

Who: Zania and Lina
Where: First Floor
When: Late Morning

Despite the previous day's events, Zania slept peacefully through the night in her box in the library. She wasn't entirely pleased about giving up her room, but if that's what was needed, that's what she'd do. Upon opening her eyes, however, she immediately changed her mind. Not five inches from her nose was a note. Just the idea that someone had been there while she was sleeping and she hadn't heard them was frightening. The contents of the note made it far worse though, and she was out of the box and dragging her belongings away as quickly as she could gather them. Seeing the words written on the box itself spooked her further. Shouldn't she have heard that?

PMs, sent later in the day

Mood:
Uncomfortable

Private PMs to Lina, Everett, and Kales

Thanks.

Notes

At some point in the night, someone has been in the library. When Zania wakes up in the morning, there is a note left in her box where she would see it when she wakes. Matching words have also been written neatly on the outside of the box in large, bold, blue lettering.

TIME UPDATE

DAY NINETY-FIVE – APRIL 5, 2006

Weather Report: It starts raining in the early morning, and by eleven AM starts a constant thunder and lightning storm. Storms will continue all day and night.

Events: The scientists are playing bedroom switch-up again. How nice of them. Rupert, Jo, and Kimberly have been removed from their rooms. Niko has been moved from the mirror room to Rupert's old bedroom. Davis will wake up in Kimberly's old bedroom on the fourth floor, with all of his luggage brought up for him and waiting in his room. Also, there's a new housemate - Rin. She is also placed on the fourth floor. And finally, Zania hasn't been moved from her box in the library, but her nameplate on the empty second floor bedroom hasn't been removed. So it's still hers!

The scientists have a response to Hannah's answer. She will find a message waiting from them on her computer. It reads:

Perhaps you missed the fact that we offered you an ultimatum. You reserve no rights, you can make no conditions. We told you how it would work, and it's as simple as that.

We will inform Ms. Xarhakos of your cooperation. Of course you may at any time decide to discontinue the lessons. However if you do, we will be following through with our end, and removing Anubis to give him to someone who needs him.

Thank you, and good day.

Lina also receives a note from the scientists. It reads:

Greetings.

We previously informed Ms. Mori that she would be required to agree to your self defense program, or lose her service dog. She has agreed. If at any point she fails to cooperate, we will step in on your behalf. You may start whenever you wish.

Remember to keep watching Matt and Rain for episode-related events. Experiment B people may see a glimpse of something in the lake outside, but they will not be able to determine what it is.

Please note that continuing old threads and posts is still A-OK! Feel absolutely no rush to finish them because of the update. If you have something that you believe is notable enough to be featured in a time update, please contact a mod.
