It'd been a long night, mostly filled with cigarettes and whiskey, leaving Aiden passed out in his bed shortly after two am, sleeping in nothing but his jeans as he'd been too exhausted and drunk to take those off after managing to get his boots off his feet and his shirt over his head. The goddamn shadows had been following him around for most of the day, though he'd been more pissed off than paranoid or scared. He'd seen worse shit in his day. But he just didn't like that they were around his sister as well, apparently. And he hadn't the first clue how to get rid of them either, which only heightened his frustration.

Aiden groaned in his sleep, rolling onto his stomach. He thought he heard Shannon get up at some ungodly hour, her soft footsteps drifting by his door, but he couldn't be sure. He was still too close to unconsciousness to even lift his head and look. A part of him hoped she'd be making breakfast soon. Sausages and eggs maybe. Toast. And coffee. Aiden tried to telepathically send her the suggestion before he buried his head under his pillow and attempted to keep the headache at bay for at least a few more minutes.

Manhattan x

Who: Manhattan, Brian and Aiden
Where: The Wooden Nickel
When Evening - 9:30ish

The black truck slotted easily into one of the spaces that ran along one side of the Wooden Nickel. A blonde emerged from the vehicle and after locking it up she made a slow, casual walk toward the buildings entrance. Manhattan had arrived a couple minutes ahead of the designated time she was to meet Brian. And even though she arrived a couple minutes a head of schedule, Manhattan had the feeling that she'd be waiting more then a few brief minutes before her friend arrived.

Low heeled boots sounded lightly against wood as Manhattan entered, and then made a trail for the bar. Her stop there would be a brief one as she would linger there only long enough to get a beer and then head on toward the back to one of the vacant tables. It was a habitual thing with the demon hunter. To seek out a table or booth near or in the back that sat against the wall. It gave her a slight advantage, she had a clear view of her surroundings while at the same time providing a sort of barrier against any threats that might try to creep up on her. With her back to the wall, so to speak, it was highly unlikely anyone or anything could get up behind her without drawing her immediate attention.

Popping the cap from her beer Manhattan leaned back slightly in her chair to take a sip of her drink.

The weather had begun to turn. Or did it's first twist all of the sudden. It didn't bother Bu in the least. Quite the contrary, she preferred the temperature on the nippier side. It was always rather ... rejuvenating. Her wounds were healing nicely, she'd done a good turn for some nice boys who needed it, and Bu was feeling a lot better about life. And therefore, she was out. Sure, it was a Tuesday night, and therefore the bars probably wouldn't be terribly busy, but she was going to take a stab at it anyway. Who knew what sort of information might cross her palm? She'd learned a long time ago not to discount the quiet nights.

The dive she picked was smallish and out of the way. She'd just pop in, have a beer, see what heads she turned. Because she would. There was a change of darker clothes in the car, for when she actually began the real patrol, but it was a bit early for that. So Buttah was wearing skin-tight jeans with fuzzy black boots -- with only a small heel, who knew when she'd have to hoof it tonight? -- and a long-sleeved t-shirt with 'Princess' in sparkly stuff across her generous chest, and which left a small line of visible skin between it and her hip-huggers. She'd paired it with a gold lame belt that was slung low and her usual big hoop earrings. It was evening, so she'd done her hair in curls. It was quasi-casual, for her at least, but she knew she looked good. She slipped her black leather jacket off of her shoulders as she strode into the place like she owned it, and headed for the bar.

Delilah had gotten up with the full expectation of making pie. There'd been a small hitch in getting fresh peaches, but she'd managed to find some that didn't feel or smell too bad. It was the last day of the weekend, after all, and she'd promised pie and coffee and perhaps some more conversation. She was a social creature at heart, and she enjoyed company. Especially company she could bake for, which she couldn't do with Corwin. Not that she didn't enjoy his visits. She sent her well-wishes out into the void when she heard about the terrible tragedy of the house fire as she worked. Three children now without parents, it was terrible. Her heart went out to them, for what it was worth.

Once the creation was ready and cooling on the windowsil in the kitchen, and there was a fresh pot brewing, she picked up the phone and instructed it to dial Aiden's number. There was a chance he might be unavailable, and that was all right. She could always start in on it herself. Delilah leaned against the kitchen counter and listened to the other side ring.

Who: Shannon and Aiden
Where: Quinlan residence, and then the grocery store
When: Morning

Shannon was dressed and sitting at the kitchen table going over, for what well may be the hundredth time, the grocery list she had written up early the previous evening. The cupboards in the Quinlan house were growing extremely bare, not to mention the condition of the fridge. Save for half a quart of milk and a couple cans of beer, the cold box was almost at empty. So a trip to the grocery was indeed in order.

Shannon could remain at the house while letting her brother do the restocking trip, but with it being morning she felt she'd be up to accompanying her brother on this little excursion. Wasn't like all that many people would be out crowding the supermarket at this early hour of the morning. She'd be fine, at least that was what Shannon kept telling herself silently in her mind.

Aiden wandered out into the kitchen, more or less ready to go do this grocery shopping thing Shannon had suggested. He supposed it was necessary. They couldn't eat out every night. Well, he could, but he figured it was a bit unhealthy for his sister. He stood, watching her look over a list. "You ready?" he asked quietly, not wanting to startle her. He thought maybe getting out and doing something would be decent. Since Eury was gone. And it was better than being inside of his room and fuming. Or hurting. Whatever. He had plans to drink those... emotions away later. When he could be alone. "We ought to go now before it gets any later."

After speaking to Delilah, apologizing really, about the little slip he'd made in giving her presence away to another dreamwalker in town, and then waiting for Eric's reappearance since he guessed the ghost would be upset if he went without him, Corwin started over to Shannon's to do the same thing. He was as muffled as usual, coat and all, just in case. It might be dark, and Shannon might know about him, but no matter what Regan thought, he still wanted to keep his presence quiet in Marquette. Gin greeted him at the corner and trotted along at his side as he walked down the sidewalk.

It feels like we haven't seen her in days, Eric complained.

"We haven't, really," Corwin admitted. "Everything's just been so busy... at least we know her house was never attacked." Gin, at his feet, purred proudly at the affection in the vampire's voice.

In a much better mood than he had been over the last couple of days, Aiden entered Mya's with the intent on getting a cup of coffee, some food, and something to take back to Shannon until the two of them could, as much as he was loathe to think it, go grocery shopping. His gaze swept around the diner as he walked inside, keeping an eye out for any familiar faces. Walking to the counter, he sat on one of the stools, ignoring the empty booths and tables. He didn't need the space and he felt sitting at the actual counter might mean he'd get better, and faster, service so he could get in and out in a decent amount of time.

The first day back at school had been rather quiet and depressing. Their classroom was almost empty, only three students had been there. They'd heard from the parents of others, most of them out of town or out of state altogether, and Delilah wasn't honestly sure if all of them were coming back or not. Not to stay, at least. Which made her sad. She loved them, but she was beginning to think that maybe they were better off elsewhere anyway. Marquette was getting to be not the place for children, especially disadvantaged ones.

She'd felt oddly restless upon returning home, and had decided to take Alexi out for a walk. She still didn't plan on being out after dark, despite the news -- confirmed by a message from Corwin on her machine -- that the vampires were gone. Maybe it was just a good policy in general. But it was still in the hours before sunset, and her dog needed to get out. So did she. The Dreamwalker strolled down the sidewalk, harness in hand, sunglasses in place, mind a thousand and one miles away.

Who: Aiden and Shannon

After a particularly exhausting morning, despite the few hours of sleep, Aiden returned home, eager to check on Shannon to make sure she was okay. He had told her to stay in - and with the chaos happening after sunset, he knew his sister wasn't stupid enough to disobey him on that particular demand. The windows and doors had all been locked and deadbolted. Locking his car, Aiden got out, lit a cigarette quickly and headed inside once he was able to get his key out and unlock the front door. "Shannon?" he called, his eyes sweeping along the living room to make sure everything looked okay and in place. If the Acherus stuck around much longer, he was going to get his sister a taxi and send her out of town until it was over. He was having a hard time not doing that right now and the only reason he resisted was because he knew she would fight him on it. "Shannon?"

Who: Aiden and Shannon
Where: Shannon's hotel room
When: Morning

Shannon had been up, and dressed, for at least an hour. The past night had left her on quite the weary side. For most people sleeping through the night generally left them re-energized and revitalized when morning came around, but for Shannon even though she had fallen asleep the night before at a decent hour and not waken until morning came around it had almost been like she hadn't gotten any sleep at all. Dreamwalking tended to have that effect on her.

With her back against the bed's headboard, Jasper lounging on her one side, a small pile of colored drawing pencils laying on the other, Shannon flipped open her sketchbook. Not really wanting to take a walk down to the restaurant for that traditional morning cup of tea just yet, and with not having any word or visit from her brother yet Shannon decided to fill a blank page or two of her sketchbook.

It took awhile for Aiden to wake up and get moving. He had a long night, a lot of pacing, drinking, smoking and more pacing. But after the sun peeked through the window, he rolled out of bed, took a shower and dressed before stumbling out of his hotel room. He scrubbed his hands over his face, adjusted his hat on his head, and went to his sister's room. He knocked and the stifled a yawn behind his fist. He knew she would be awake, and hoped she hadn't gone down to get coffee without him.

"I liked the one on Lost Creek Drive." Shannon said once the Quinlan siblings were in Aiden's room. The pair had taken a look at a couple houses up for rent earlier that day. They had done the same the day prior, and though Shannon took a liking to a couple of the houses they had visited between the past two days, the one on Lost Creek, a nice little brick ranch, seemed to be the dreamwalker's preference of the lot.

Though her brother had said little about any of the residences they had walked into, he had taken the lead and asked those all important questions a possible renter would ask. In fact Aiden had done most of the talking while Shannon just looked around each place while she hovered behind her brother during the walk

When Hunters Play Catch Up

Who: Aiden and Manhattan
When: 11:15am
Where: Outside of Mya's Diner

The truck caught his eye the moment he pulled his car into a spot in front of Mya's. Aiden's hunger was momentarily forgotten as he got out of his car and wandered over. It was definitely Manhattan's truck, but she wasn't inside. Two dogs, however, were, and they were alerted to his presence the minute he got within a distance far too comfortable for them. It'd been awhile since he'd seen her - the last being in the bar the night she warned him off of Eury. Grinning, he lit a cigarette and decided to wait for her outside rather than going in to look for her. No doubt if her dogs barked loud enough at him, she'd probably hear and come out anyway. With a lazy gesture, he leaned against the side of her truck, hat pulled down, cigarette between his lips as he waited.

While one hand pushed the opened the door of Mya's, the other held the to go cup of coffee from which Manhattan took a sip as she exited the diner. She'd hadn't expected any other run ins with anyone she knew. She'd just been planning on starting her long drive from Marquette after talking with Brian. But that thought was quickly discarded the instant her eyes hit upon her truck. A little wicked style grin formed as the blonde hunter took those few short steps away from the diner and over to the parked black truck. "Thought you'd high tailed it out of town." She said with the little lingering wicked type grin as she reached the truck Aiden was presently leaning himself against, and though the two dogs inside the vehicle didn't make much in the way of noise, they did keep an intense watch on the guy leaning against the truck with the most unfriendliest of looks that could be offered by creatures of their nature. And she had started to think just that as she hadn't seen hide nor hair of the other hunter since there last encounter. Which had to be, what? A week or more back.

"Had a few reasons to stay," Aiden replied, pulling the cigarette from his mouth and grinning at her. He always had liked those sly, wicked sort of grins she'd throw at him. Usually they turned him on. But he couldn't think about that right now. "How ya been, love? Been awhile since I've seen you, considering we're both residing in the same town at the moment."

Making A Change

Who: Aiden and Eury
When: Early evening
Where: Stone Eye Antiquities

He sat outside of her shop for probably close to twenty minutes, smoking a cigarette and staring at the door. He was torn between getting out of the car and going inside, or turning on the engine and taking off. He wasn't sure exactly where things stood between them - it was like they had some kind of bipolar relationship. One minute they were laughing, the next they were fighting. Of course, he had used the word relationship, which prompted a quick breath and shake of his head. No need to use that word, per se. But between his conversation with Dorian, and then Shannon...he didn't know what else to do but to get out of the car.

And so he did, locking it behind him before wandering casually up to her shop. It annoyed him, how he was generally fairly confident in situations like these. But that was Eury - no other person made him feel so unsure about himself as she did. It was unsettling, and yet he was still there to see her. His jacket sleeve covered the bandages wrapped around his wrist and unless they were getting naked - which he wasn't all opposed to - she wasn't going to see the stitches across his abdomen. The bruise on his cheek was fading, so he wasn't overly concerned with it. She knew what he did for a living - she could draw her own conclusions.

He didn't call her name this time, as he usually did. Instead he walked into her shop, eyes kept open for her as he wandered around the shop. He hoped she was alone. If she was with anyone, VNS or just a customer, Aiden would just have to escort them out.

Wanting A Place To Call Home

Who: Aiden and Shannon
When: Mid Morning
Where: Ramada Inn

Shannon rolled over to her side, eyes blinking open to focus on the red numbers of the digital clock that sat on nightstand next to her bed. Even though the time on the clock read a few minutes after nine, that compiled with the fact that Shannon had slipped into bed the previous night just after ten should have had the red head feeling well rested at the mid morning hour, but Shannon was feeling anything but. It felt almost as if Shannon hadn't gotten an ounce of sleep within the past eleven or so hours. And she knew well what the cause was behind that. She had dreamwalked last night. Wandered into a strange and somewhat disturbing, if not slightly terrifying, dream. It had almost seemed like a puzzle to her that was missing many of its pieces, an enigma she had been nowhere near to figuring out.

Trying to rub the weariness from her eyes with a fisted hand, Shannon rolled her feet out from beneath the covers and over the side of the bed where they slowly slipped into the fuzzy pink slippers on the floor beside the bed as she sat up. And it was from there that Shannon stood to pad across the floor toward the bathroom to start her morning dressing routine.

After hanging up with Eury, Aiden drove a few more miles before he picked up the phone to dial Dorian. He knew it was late, but he didn't care so much, almost pretty sure that Dorian would be awake. And if not, well, the bugger could wake up and answer. And if he didn't, Aiden would just keep calling back until he did. He was feeling lousy for all sorts of reasons, none of which he wanted to think about at the moment, and it made him appreciate the fact that Dorian hadn't cut him completely out of his life when he'd fucked up. Lifting the phone to his ear, he waited for Dorian to answer, impatiently drumming his fingers on the steering wheel.

Dorian had had a good night. In fact, it had been a damn good night, and he wasn't all that tired when he got home, despite the fact that he should be heading to bed. He made it as far as his bedroom, but ended up flopped down and flipping through a comic book, hoping that a little reading would help him nod off sometime soon. Then again, if that was really his intent, he should have gotten changed for bed. He was halfway through the story when Aiden called, and he answered without hesitation. "Hey," he said, eyes still on the page. "What's up?"

Eury had been debating calling Aiden all day. Really, since she'd woken up surprisingly without a hangover, even if she expected one, and she'd been on and off thinking about Ash, and Aiden both as she worked. Her day flew by with her mind occupied as much as it was, and afterwards she'd gone upstairs to just sort of chill out, and think to herself.

This gave her a lot of time to ponder over everything. Which really didn't give her any conclusions on anything, really, but did make her wonder where Aiden had fucked off to. She kept debating if she was even welcome to call, and thought that maybe with the way their last conversation had ended, even if it was kinda all over, and she'd been meaning to give him space for him to decide if he wanted to try things or not with his whole view of the world problem...in the end she dialed anyhow.

She laid on the couch, staring up at the ceiling as she watched the candle light flicker around. She was having a relaxing, pampering herself night and therefore had lit a bunch of nice smelling candles, taken a long bath, and was now a relaxed, boneless heap on the sofa curled up with a soft blanket just out of the drier. Perfect. Now, hopefully her conversation with Aiden wouldn't bring her back down again. It was always a gamble with him.

Aiden still had quite a few hours left on his drive. It was a long one, regardless, but with a few stops and hitting a couple bouts of traffic, it'd put him behind more than he'd have liked. He liked it best when the sun set, and the roads began to clear. When it was just he, and his car, and a long dark road ahead with nothing on his mind other than what sonofabitch he was going to rid the world of next.

With his things packed and thrown in the back seat, and his car completely refueled, Aiden left the hotel early enough that the sun was barely peeking over the horizon. He had a long drive ahead of him, and the sooner he left, the sooner he'd be finished and could get back. With a cigarette lit and a foam cup of coffee in the cup holder, Aiden pulled out of the hotel parking lot and headed through the streets of Marquette toward the interstate. It took him a good twenty minutes before he picked up his cell phone from the passenger seat and flipped it open. With the bunch of a button, he was dialing Dorian's number. He didn't think Dorian would even be awake yet, but even if he was and didn't want to answer, Aiden would simply leave a voice message. He told Dorian once that he wouldn't leave town without telling him, and Aiden had no idea if Dorian even cared at this point, but he'd at least try. Even if he was planning on coming back. Maybe it was simply an excuse to call Dorian. They hadn't spoken in a few days, and Aiden knew it was his responsibility to reach out.

Silence had pretty much trailed them from the exterior of the hotel to Shannon's room. And she knew it wouldn't last but mere seconds once the door to her room had been closed after their entrance into it. She knew Aiden would have much to say about her being outside of the hotel at night, and in the company of strangers, well, stranger as she knew full well that his lack of acknowledgement of Eric and Theresa was a clear indication that he hadn't seen either. She also knew that she had much to say to him, not that she would be all that comfortable talking to him about it. What she was, what she was capable of. But she knew with the return of her voice she could no longer keep the secrets that had burrowed deep down inside of her from her brother.

Hearing the click of the door as it was closed behind her Shannon settled down on the edge of her bed and started gently stroking multi colored fur of her cat as he circled, and then curled up on her lap as her blue eyes cast upward to watch her brother.
