After Stitching Up Friends... Again

Who: Corwin and Olivia
Where: Corwin's house
When: Just after dawn
When Olivia woke, it was to a large, comfortable bed in a dimly lit bedroom, all the windows covered with tin foil and electrical tape and a small lamp switched on beside the bed. There was cat-- River, Corwin's tortoiseshell friend-- curled up against her side and another-- a large, lanky siamese-- sprawled against her hair on the pillow. She was dressed in an unfamiliar, soft, but way too large t-shirt and drawstring sleep pants that fit a little better, and she seemed clean, not sticky with dried blood or itchy with dirt. Her neck and shoulders were carefully stitched and covered in bandages, and her other various, small wounds had been dressed and bandaged, as well.
More to the point, there was one damp-haired Strigoi vampire sitting on the floor by the side of the bed near her feet, head on his folded arms on the blankets and apparently dozing. More cats were settled around him, and a short-haired, skinny dog missing its left front leg lay on its side on the other side of the bed. That one happened to be awake, and his long tail started thumping against the blankets at the sight of Olivia's open eyes.

Who: Olivia and Corwin
When: Just before midnight
Where: Streets of Marquette
She had made all the necessary phone calls. Well, almost all of them. She left a voicemail for Herbert, though she wasn't sure he knew how to check voicemail, so she sent him a text as well, asking where he was, if he was okay and if so to lock the apartment doors and windows, magic or not. She knew it was late, so there was a chance he was sleeping, but she also knew it was the weekend so he could have been out with one of his friends. She knew Judi would be home and safe, and probably (hopefully) asleep, and she didn't want to worry him by calling and waking him up. She knew she would go to his apartment after checking on Herbert anyway. She called and left a message for Mathias as she was walking out the door of Babylon, hoping he was okay and not out in... well, whatever the hell was going on. She wouldn't put it past him to be out in the midst of trouble, but hopefully one vampire bite was enough for him to keep his distance from it all. She doubted it. Maybe she would go by his house on her way home, just to make sure...
She didn't see anything, or anyone, out of the ordinary as she left Babylon, but she kept her steps brisk and purposeful. Turning the street corner, she mentally mapped out her route. If she got to Trowbridge, she could just cut through the park and cut the walking time in half. And maybe whatever mayhem was going on was done for the evening, especially with the sirens in the distance. She imagined the police were out in full force tonight. Feeling a bit better, Olivia reached into her bag. She found her lighter and gripped it before she began to dig around for her cigarettes. She spotted the folded tissue that held Mathias's necklace. She had taken it off an hour ago when she'd realized some shady guy in the corner of the bar was eying it whenever she walked by his table. Paranoid by thoughts of telekinetics somehow stealing it from her, she'd pulled it off and placed it safely in her bag. Now Olivia went to pull it out and put it back on when she realized how quiet it was. The sirens had faded, and she heard absolutely nothing. Nothing at all. Maybe it wasn't anything to worry about. It was late, and surely people were at home locking their doors. Glancing over her shoulder, she didn't see anything, but the silence unnerved her anyway and she began to walk again, keeping her lighter tight in her palm, everything else forgotten.
A Friend In Need

Who: Olivia and Corwin
When: 2:30ish
Where: Corwin's Home
Olivia returned home after her shift at the diner ended, still a bit tired but feeling lighter in spirits than she had in a long time. She mentally made plans to take a shower, change, and then wander two doors down to visit Judiel when the cat outside of her apartment caught her eye. How on earth it got inside, she had no idea, but she recognized it as belonging to Corwin. Confused, she approached it slowly and then bent down to pull the note from the twine around its neck. The cat purred, pressed against her hand and she scratched it behind its ears before straightening and reading the letter.
If you have time today, before sundown, please come to 666 Mountain Street. I need to talk to you. --Corwin
Olivia looked down at the cat who simply sat there and stared up at her expectantly. She didn't know what Corwin wanted, or needed...and a tiny part of her was wary, wondering if she was going to walk into something bad if she went through with his request. Then again, he never seemed overly dangerous, or threatening, so Olivia sighed, stuck the note in her bag and turned to head out. She knew if she saw Judi beforehand, she definitely wouldn't make it before sunset. The cat trotted along beside her, almost as if preparing to lead the way. It wasn't too far a walk, given any distance in Marquette usually wasn't, but her feet began to ache by the time she reached the house, and she wondered if Corwin would even be safe answering the door, what with it being daylight. She hesitated, and then knocked on the door. Peering down at the cat, she lifted an eyebrow. "Any idea what he wants?" she asked it. The cat simply blinked slowly before reaching out to scratch at the door itself.
A Bit of Break

Who: Corwin and Olivia
Where: Babylon
When: Around midnight
It didn't take long to chase the spiders away from his backpack and gnats away from his laptop, pack up what little of his things he'd actually unpacked in the mess of the orphanage during the day, and make sure his laptop was as well-wrapped-up as possible to keep it from getting wet. The lightning and thunder was coming on strong, now, and Corwin didn't quite beat the rain to Babylon to tell Eric the change in plans. The ghost didn't exactly condemn his checking up on people, but he didn't really like following him around while he did it, either, so he'd made himself scarce.
"Watch this for me," he told River as he slid his wet backpack onto the floor of the coat room and added his equally wet coat to one of the hangers. The rest of him wasn't too bad, though, thankfully. "Feel free to scratch up anyone who wants to touch it."
She looked pleased at the idea, and Corwin started inside. Maybe he'd grab some dinner in the process, just a little bit to tide him over a couple days, since he was staying with living people.
Shared Acquaintances

Who: Corwin and Olivia
Where: Olivia's spot on the lakeshore
When: 1:30AM Sunday morning
Even after a shower and a change of clothes back at Arcadia-- and a moment or two bemoaning the gaping holes in one of his favorite t-shirts-- Corwin still managed to beat Olivia to "her spot" along the shoreline behind Babylon. He settled in the sand, even took his boots off to dig his clawed toes in to it, and made a point to relax. He hurt still, but he was mostly healed up and entirely non-bloody-- a little hungry, in fact, but he could wait until after he'd talked to Olivia. He wasn't that hungry. Eric hadn't found him yet and Theresa was still avoiding him, whether because she didn't know he'd finished demon-hunting or for some other reason, so he was quite content to wait alone, without even a cat this time.
Unfortunately, it did give him time to mull over the day and night and generally regret half of the things he'd done. Telling the hunter Buttahfly about Jace and Konnor was highest on the list. Telling Jace he could come to him if he needed to talk or if he ascended was pretty close second. Picking a fight with Jace, oddly, wasn't on the list at all. He was glad for that, in some strange fashion. Maybe if Jace had been in full demon form, or prepared with a stake or something, it might have gone a different way-- but it might not have. Either way, Jace would have scars to show for it.
So, really, it was the war between "Jace deserves to die" and "Jace deserves a chance" that was bothering him. But since it really was too late to call off the dogs, as it were, worrying about it was just pointlessness that he couldn't quite stop indulging in. Hopefully Olivia wouldn't be too much later. He could use the distraction.
You're in my spot.

Who: Corwin and Olivia
Where: The lakeshore not far from Bablyon
When: After midnight
For the first time in what felt like a long time, Corwin felt like things weren't going too badly. He was full-- a small glass at Babylon was so much easier than actually hunting, even if it was expensive-- he had friends who probably weren't going to give up on him-- though he was admittedly still nervous about Delilah not knowing about his vamirism-- he knew where his scarf was-- Theresa was wearing it again, inside the bar-- the ghosts were enjoying another night of being alive, and he had River curled up on his lap while he sat on the beach and looked out over the lake. It was a pretty nice night, a little cool, but then, he was always cold, so it hardly mattered.
