Who: Dean and Janice

Dean had to wonder what the hell he was doing as he walked up to the cinema, after Sophie had dropped him off in town. Sure, he knew what he was doing, but he was as nervous as all hell and had spent the last hour wondering if this really was that good an idea. Maybe it would be best to just turn round and go home, stand her up, forget about the whole thing, deal with the fallout in school tomorrow where he'd doubtlessly be bitched about, but at least he wouldn't have to run the gauntlet that Thia and Caleb had him worrying about that this would be viewed as a more than one time thing. Somehow he had to make sure he made that clear. The one time only thing. Unless this went well - which he doubted it would - at least, not well enough for him to want a repeat performance. Sure, the girl was pretty, but, well, she was like fourteen or something and really not his type. He hadn't been lying when he told Thia that the reason he'd picked her was because he knew beyond a doubt that she'd say 'yes'. That probably wasn't a very good start. But, he was here - and wearing the jacket as Thia'd insisted, along with a pair of dark blue jeans and a charcoal grey tshirt. He'd purposefully picked them so she couldn't think that he'd made too much of an effort or anything. God, what was he doing again?

Lullaby had had a busy time. She'd gone out for her walk, she'd done her thinking, she didn't think she'd woken anyone up with the out-for-a-walk-at-odd-hours of it all. She'd tried to be as quiet as humanly possible. When she'd gotten back, she'd curled up in the den and listened to the cd that was left on her grave with Oz's good headphones. She'd also wound up crashed out there, even if she hadn't intended to. When she woke up later, she'd wandered back upstairs to shower and change, then she sat in her room, milling over everything that had gone through her mind the night before.

One of the main things she knew she was in intense need of doing was starting to move forward. And while she didn't know how to do that per se, she was going to make an effort in small ways she thought could help. If nothing else, they probably wouldn't hurt. Therefore--she was making the room she'd been given into her room. This was kind of more difficult than one would think, especially when one didn't exactly have a whole lot in the way of personal possessions. However, she was making due with all the things she'd stolen the night before, and she was working on rearranging the furniture. This was more difficult than it looked, as the quality of furnishings in the Osbourne household was filed under the header 'ridiculously good' which meant it wasn't made out of particle board like most of the things at her home had been. It made moving things a hell of a lot harder since she was a small, not overly strong female. However, she was trying it--even if it was taking her for-fucking-ever.

It wasn't that Dean was avoiding her, no, not at all. He'd just... Decided that he should probably get homework done and so headed up to his room as soon as he'd got home from school and he'd been hiding there ever since. But he'd left his door ajar, so she could have come in if she'd wanted to. Right? He half expected it and kept glancing towards the door in case she'd managed to miraculously move silently and come in or something, but there wasn't anything.

Are You Insane??

Who: Dean and Caleb
Where: Art class
When: First period

Dean sat slumped in his chair, art pad open in front of him, his attention focused on that as he drew, filling up the white space, though his mind wasn't really there, not really. His mind was all over the place - still, like it had been all damn weekend. Oz had been right, Oz had been so, so right - he'd completely underestimated what it would take to live in the same house as the girl he had a thing for, especially when she was a cuddly type. But he hadn't expected... He'd started flirting with her, he knew. He didn't mean to, but, occasionally he'd realise that he had been - and that wasn't fair to her, wasn't fair to either of them. He knew why she and Joshua had broken up - even if there was a snowball's chance in hell she might be vaguely interested, which he doubted, now was not the time. Now was the time she needed to get her head straight and find herself and everything that went with that, not to have her best friend, who she trusted, start... But, she'd crawled into bed with him and he couldn't get that image out of his mind. He scribbled out the last drawing he'd done of her and turned the page, welcoming the white blankness again.

Caleb wandered into class a tiny bit late. This was due to the fact that he'd gotten a note tacked to his front door, which had been--weirdly enough--from Lullaby. Who had a request for him. One that, considering his opinion on Dean's love life, he had been more than happy to do. Therefore--lateness. He figured he and Dean should probably get together sometime soon, where it was less public, just to catch up and re-assess, but for now...there was art class. He walked up and dropped down into the chair on the opposite side of the table, eyeing Dean critically. "You look...broody." he observed.

Dean heard the front door close. He heard the sound of the gravel beneath her feet. He listened until he couldn't hear anymore, until all he could hear were the muffled voices from downstairs. Had anyone else even noticed she'd gone?

He didn't know how much time passed, how long he sat there in the dark, his arms wrapped around his pulled up knees. It felt like an eternity, though he doubted that it was that long. Long enough for her to walk away, long enough for him to go through a whole gammit of emotions and arrive back at emptiness. He stared into the dark until something changed and he took a breath. He didn't feel any different, he'd had no blinding revelations, or great plans, nothing like that. But he'd sat there for long enough and he couldn't do it any longer. So he got up and opened the closet door, blinking in the light. It felt like an age and his room felt empty, but he wasn't staying there and he crossed to the other door quickly, pulling it open and almost tripping over the bunny that fell through the door as he did so.

Dean's hand was still throbbing when he got back from Maddie's and he'd grabbed himself some painkillers and thrown them back, before looking around for Thia, Sophie telling him that she thought the girl was down by the lake. As he walked down through the trees, he palmed the small bundle of healing mojo from his pocket and ran it over the back of his injured hand, feeling it leave little tingles in its wake. Hopefully it'd help out, though his knuckles were still cracked and swollen.

He emerged out from the trees and onto the beach, heading over towards where he could see his friend sitting, studying the now-familiar book on fades.

Lullaby had wanted to come down by the water and have some quiet alone time, to go over the book she really didn't want to be going over. It was the tone. It was like she could feel accusation pointed at her loud and clear on every page. 'You evil, vile thing, you. Abomination is too kind a word'. or something like that. Either way, she wasn't a fan, and it was hard for her to get through. This was due largely to the fact that a lot of it she agreed with. She'd skipped over some of the finer points about fade creation, and was trying to find out more about her other 'abilities'. Currently, she'd stumbled onto something about mirror travel. Which at once was intensely neat, and absolutely terrifying. She shut her eyes and drew in a deep breath, letting it out slowly as she felt her headache sort of worsening. Maybe she wasn't used to being out in the fresh air and sunlight or something, because she kind of wasn't feeling so good. But she wanted to take advantage of being able to go outside whenever she wanted to again, and so was being stubborn about retreating back to the house. Not hearing Dean's approach, she rubbed at the back of her neck lightly, and tried to figure out if she had the brain power to continue reading about the crazy ass world of mirror travel.

After his run in with Chance, Dean hadn't felt like going back to class. He should have, he knew, but the total fucking insensitivity of that bastard had him riled up enough that he couldn't do it. he wondered, actually, whether the guy had been carrying any electrical equipment and, if so, whether it actually still worked. He hadn't tried to do anything on purpose, but with a mood like that, who knew what might have gone wrong. His own phone had survived though, he noted as he rescued his bike and headed out of school, hoping nobody stopped him.

Who: Chance and Dean

There was the occasional wondering as to why Chance was at school at all. He'd already ditched three classes, and was planning on ditching on his fourth when he came out of hiding during lunch. He didn't want to really admit that he'd been avoiding Jordan and Kaysen, but he was. He didn't think he could deal with either of them given his mood, and knowing he still had to go to Devon's funeral shortly after school. Given how heavy everything felt at the moment, he was pretty damn sure he couldn't handle the mundane atmosphere of class and pretend he actually gave a shit about chemistry or calculus. He was actually kind of wishing he had some weed, even though he hadn't touched the stuff since last winter. The thought kind of made him itchy and restless and he shoved his hand through his hair, moving through the halls quickly to try to get to his destination without incident. Kids were starting to get up and move now that lunch was over and once he was outside of the school, he found the nearest, vacant corner just outside the doors, flung his book bag down and pulled out a dark sharpie marker. Sitting down against the wall, knees drawn up, he spent a couple seconds absently coloring in his nails with the black ink before he got bored and turned the marker against the side of the school building where he began to write, brows drawn together in concentration as he darkened in each, large letter. It didn't occur to him, or he just didn't care, that he was defacing school property. It wouldn't have been the first time and he was pretty sure it wouldn't be the last. No one was bound to catch him out there anyway and if they did? Well, they could be happy he was fucking up the school instead of their car.

Or maybe everyone would think she was crazy, or that it was a waste of time. They won't. she kept telling herself. If they agreed to show up in the first place, they must think it's a good idea. She just kept telling herself that.

When Dean got home from school, Oz was sitting on the front porch, sort of half waiting for him, half absently playing his guitar. He hadn't gotten it out in ages, what with imminent death possibilities, which really killed any creative spirit he'd had going on. Either way, he was playing now. Which had gotten a couple of squees from the dead girl upstairs. He'd plugged in his amp for her earlier to play a little, apparently sometime after Sophie had gotten schooling squared away for her. He was back to acoustic by now though, playing Creep by Radiohead, one of the two pretty much default songs he always played when he was in thoughtful mode.

Dean headed up the driveway on his bike, half an eye on the weather, since he'd gotten wet riding in this morning in the drizzle. But so far, he was still dry - a fact of which he was definitely a fan. he slowed to a stop and dismounted, propping the bike up against the front porch as he took in Oz - he'd been able to hear the music from some distance away, but he hadn't realised what he'd been listening to. "Didn't know you played," he commented, not making a move to walk into the house, since he'd have to squeeze past the guy and, really, that seemed rude.

As agreed, Caleb headed out to the side lawn when lunchtime came around, to meet Dean. Talking during class wasn't the most adviseable thing to do, especially if you wanted to not talk around shit the entire time. And talking in code got tiring really fucking fast. Therefore, whatever. They'd talk where they'd be less likely to be overheard by the mundanes. He sat down, dropping his bookbag down and leaning back against it. He was tired, and wasn't necessarily that pleased about being back in school. Mostly because everyone seemed like walking wounded to him. Like they were all little shock-zombies. Or a lot of them were. It was just weird.

Dean wasn't far behind Caleb, having headed out straight from class and he joined his friend after a moment or two, glancing round to see if there was anyone else nearby - which, thankfully, there wasn't. School today seemed quieter then usual in any event, everyone fairly subdued, shellshocked, really. It wasn't really surprising. "Hey," Dean greeted, quietly, shifting his backpack to root around in it and pull out of bottle of water, taking a sip.

Thia had been out with Joshua when Dean had got back from town, so he'd settled down at the kitchen table to read the book he'd picked up from Nevermore, grabbing a pad of paper from the drawer and slotting torn strips of paper into pages that he thought were really relevant or interesting. It wasn't until he happened to glance out the window and see Joshua walking up from the lake alone - and not looking too happy - that he started to wonder. He could just go and ask the guy what was up, but it was the absence of Thia which his mind went to, so he stayed out of the way, heading upstairs and to one of the windows overlooking the back yard, waiting for Thia to appear as well. When she didn't after a while, he decided to head down and see if he could find her.

Lullaby had her shirt tugged up, it full of weird little charms. Supposedly, they were white magicked. If that was a word. Well it was now, she'd put it into the collective unconscious. Either way, they were instructed--and by instructed, Lullaby meant 'told to in no uncertain terms', to put the ones with feathers in every window in the house, and the ones with beads and stuff in every doorframe. It was a big house. She had a lot of charms. But when dead witches who are suddenly not so dead tell you to do these things with a tone of authority--you do them. Thus, she and Dean were wandering around attempting to catch all of them. They had the first floor done, so that was good. Now they were on to the second. Which meant they weren't in earshot anymore of Maddie or Billy, and it gave Lullaby a moment to gush. "Oh my god this whole thing is so romantic." she finally said, like she'd been waiting to say it for hours now.

Dean was actually sleeping, trying to get some in before it got dark again. He hadn't thought he'd be able to, but he'd promised he'd try, climbing into bed after lunch and stretching out under the blankets, one hand hooked underneath his pillow as he lay half on his side, half on his front, facing away from the bedroom door, which was ajar, breathing gently.

Lullaby had a bit of a issue to discuss with the sleeping boy, so when she walked into his room, she was less worried about his being asleep. And later--she might actually feel bad about it, but at current, she wasn't thinking about that and instead she marched up to the side of his bed and grabbed his shoulder, shaking him. "Hey!" she said, to try to get his attention better.

Joshua had slept some, in a light and shitty kind of way, helped out here and there where he could, and felt quite a bit better when Oz had given him a job for the night. He could be a lookout, he was fine with that. At least it wasn't being stuck down in the basement all night, which was what he'd half-expected to be told. So instead he was going to be upstairs with a walkie-talkie, working on spotting the vamps where he could. It would at least keep him occupied until the twenty-four hour mark rolled around and he started watching for Lullaby instead. Once she was safe ... back to the vampires -- if any showed up, he hoped to god they didn't. There was a bit of time left, though, and Joshua found himself walking through the house, sort of masochistically looking for Dean.

Dean was in Thia's room. Sophie and he hadn't been back for very long - he was sure that she'd kept him out of the house for most of the day on purpose in an effort to keep his mind off things, or some bullshit like that. Whatever - like that was going to work. But they'd had to be home well before dark and he'd driven them back about half an hour ago - successfully managing to not crash at all. Which was a triumph for his first driving lesson, as far as he was concerned. Now, though, he was unpacking her stuff that he'd picked up from Journey's, putting it all in drawers, cupboards, adding in the bags of things that Sophie had bought her on the basis that no girl could possibly survive with so little. Especially not shoes - Sophie had jumped right on the absence of shoes. It was taking a little time, but the pile he'd dumped on the bed was going down. And Dean was refusing to even consider the possibility that she wasn't coming back to use them.

Apparently Sophie was going to be taking longer than she'd initially thought, which left Dean wandering round town. Really, he thought that it was a conspiracy to get him out of the hose. He wasn't stupid, he could imagine Oz and Sophie deciding that him hanging around the house waiting to see if Thia would come back would be 'bad for him' and so he'd been lulled into town under the pretence of a driving lesson and then left to wander. Which was what he was currently doing, looking in shop windows and trying to figure things out. Things looked... odd... to him - some of the stores were closed, others boarded up. Signs of the nighttime troubles Marquette was experiencing. A whole lot of Not Good.

He wandered until he turned a corner - and promply walked in to someone - he really should look where he was going.

When dawn came, Oz had still been outside gathering up bits of Lullaby. The vamps had retreated a while ago, after he and Billy had gone out to pick as many off as they could. Which was probably one of the most awful things he'd had to do in a good long while. Or...possibly around ever. He'd fought things, he'd seen awful shit, but gathering pieces of a teenage girl that was killed on your lawn...that wasn't pleasant. Especially when he'd kind of liked her in the first place. Either way, he was doing it, because it didn't seem right not to. He was still tracking some pieces down when he noticed something weird going on.

He'd laid her body over by the porch, not sure where else to put it quite yet, but as he watched, dawn starting to shine a little brighter now, he could see her...fading out. Almost like the breeze that was blowing across her corpse was blowing away ashes. He padded over, but it happened pretty fast. One minute she was there, then next...poof. Blinking a few times, he stared then slowly started to squint his bad eye shut more, with the morning light getting brighter. Unable to do anything else but stand there staring, he turned, and headed back inside. Once in there, he ducked into the bathroom and shifted back to his human form, throwing clothes on and ignoring all the aches and pains screaming at him.

"Sunshine, I'm going to go let the boys out..." he started, sounding distracted. He'd tell her in a second about the magic disappeary body. Then he padded barefoot down the steps, keys still in his pocket since he hadn't left them down there. He walked over to the cage, and unlocked it, more or less standing back just in case there was something inordinately violent going to happen...though he kind of doubted it. Best safe, though.
