Who: Harper and Herbert
When: Early Afternoon, around 1PM
Where: Nevermore
The store wasn't actually open, but the light was on. Harper knew there'd be no customers after yesterday, so she didn't want to open and force the store to pay her for doing nothing. But she needed information. After everything that happened, she needed to know why. Nevermore had all the resources she needed, and normally she'd never go there when it was closed and exploit the fact that she had a key, but these weren't normal circumstances. Harper sat in the chair nearish the window and was reading more about psychic visions. She was re-reading things she'd already read. She just needed to know what was going on.
Herbert was looking for Harper. He'd much rather talk to people in person than on the phone, he'd found, and see and smell for himself that people were okay and whole and all that. It made him feel better. And since she hadn't returned his call, well... he was determined to see her. So when she wasn't at her house, he turned himself around and biked over to Nevermore. It was the only place he could think of where she might be. He was a little wet when he got there-- or, well, a lot wet-- but not nearly as bad as when he'd gotten to Charlie's. The rain was more sporadic now, and not as heavy. Elda poked her head out of his coat pocket as he slowed to a stop, and he paused under the overhang to try again, and just as unsuccessfully, to wring out his clothes before he went inside.
He walked his bicycle up to the window, cupping one hand to the window to peer in. There was light in there, and-- aha, there was Harper! He rapped gently on the glass, trying to get her attention.

Hallo, Harper. Olivia said you called. Are you okay? Are they still attacking you? Call me back. Oh-- and, errum, I don't think I'll be in at work today. Olivia isn't letting me go to school, so I doubt she'll let me go to work, either... if that's a problem, call me back and tell me and maybe I can use that to make her let me leave the apartment.
Who: Herbert to Peyton
When: 9:23AM
Peyton? Is your phone off? Where are you? Call me back, I'm kind of worried. I got attacked, so did Sammy-- he's okay, Geo and I made sure nothing got to him, but I'm worried that you're being attacked, too. Call me back. Tell me how you're doing, okay? Bye.

Broken mirrors. That was the key to getting rid of the bastards for longer than an hour. Once he and Marlowe had realized that, they'd made it a point to break the reflective surfaces as soon as the fuckers came through. Screw the bad luck they'd be getting for all the broken glass, a few hours of peace with no shadows showing up was well deserved.

When: 7:20AM ish
Some of the shock, anger, and discomfort from the shadow-spirit-thing being in her car had worn off. Some of it. Hannah was still pretty pissed off, and still pretty freaked out, but it was subverted by the need to find out who else saw it, to see if everyone was all right, and the need to eat something. Fuck, she'd been hungry-- actually hungry, too.
So here she was, in some random coffee-shop diner place, with a half-eaten breakfast in front of her and her cell phone sitting on the table in front of that. Just had to kill time until people were actually awake, and shit. And people-watch, because hey, she liked doing that.

Who: Herbert and Harper
Where: Nevermore
When: Late afternoon
When Herbert showed up at Nevermore for his second day at work-- his second day! he didn't get fired on his first for incompetence, Harper actually wanted him to come back! ... okay, he was a bit excited about that-- he was, sadly, completely drenched. This time, though, he had planned for this eventuality and had his backpack with him, packed with plastic bags to keep the things inside dry, with both schoolbooks to work on homework and a dry set of clothes, right down to dry socks and different shoes.
Thankfully, he was also early, so he waved to Harper with a smile before heading through the store, to the bathroom in the back. "Gotta change," he explained, though it was probably pretty obvious where he was going and why.
He shuffled on in, closing the door behind him and dropping his backpack to the floor. He'd actually started untying one shoe-- balancing on one foot while he worked at it with one hand and held it up with the other-- before he glanced idly in the mirror. When he did, though, he froze. And stared. And put his foot down, looking around slowly and confusedly, nose flaring and mouth falling open a little as he tried to catch a nonexistent smell for a... nonexistent thing.

Who: Harper & Lucius
Where: Nevermore
When: Afternoon, 1 P.M.
After spending a little more than an hour with his new guitar in the small room he had at The Beacon House, Lucius realized a lot of the songs had the same feel to them. The same words, the same topics. They all went directly back to Marlowe. Again being in the room wasn't helping in his quest to relieve himself of his thoughts of the redhead, so he left the room, again borrowing an umbrella from the man next door.

Who: Harper and Herbert
When: 2PM and onward
Where: Nevermore
Harper stood in the stacks straightening the shelves, she was always a little anal about making sure things were in the correct order and looking nice- probably one of the reasons Dorian had kept her employed. She was wearing a sweater that was held on by one arm and draped over the other shoulder, her cast still causing issues with clothing that she had just given up and the less she had to try and put on over the cast the better. She’d gotten another call from her aunt that morning, (she let it go to voicemail), who had been calling once a week for the past couple weeks, Harper suspected it was because her birthday was nearing in the next few months and she wanted to try and get in touch before hand. She tried not to think of that though and continued to organize the shelves, the day had picked up a bit previously but was slowing down again, she anticipated it picking up a bit in a little while but hoped that she’d have time to help Herbert get settled before it did.
Since it was his first day on the job, and because he was rarely late anyway, Herbert pulled up to Nevermore a few minutes before two. He wore what he hoped would pass for work clothes-- he hadn't had a chance to wash the ones from the funeral, and the thrift stores he could afford didn't have a terribly wide selection that could fit him-- though he still only had his boots or his sneakers for shoes, so he'd gone with the boots. He just hoped he was presentable.

Harper had been forced to work double shifts for the past week because of the manager leaving. Although Mathis had promoted her and given her permission to hire someone on, which was nice, but with all the catch up from stock finally coming in and everything she hadn’t had much chance to even think about it other than a passing thought. Finally she managed to sit down and look at the single application she had which had been given to her before she was promoted. Harper pulled the phone up and dialed the number on the sheet; it was still a little awkward, her arm hadn’t completely healed yet and was still in a cast, but would be coming off within the week (or so the doctor said).
Putting the phone to her ear she waited for it to ring.

Who: Harper and Sammy
Where: Nevermore
When: Late Morning
Sammy was of the opinion as he once more walked the streets of Marquette that he had headed for Nevermore too late the day before. So, today, he was headed for it early. Or, rather, earlyish. This time his pockets held no misplaced or lost jewelry as he'd turned it in to the police department the day before along with his name, phone number and address. In fact his pockets were rather empty. Completely empty. As he pushed open the door to Nevermore - elated to see the "We're Open" sign hanging - he reeled his mind back in, away from the worries that were plaguing it.
Harper was in her spot, a little creeped out still from her earlier customer she'd gone back to her book, watching the time and trying to decided, again, when the best time to close up would be. The ghost town just wasn't worth the business... Harper had actually clocked out two hours ago, feeling really bad about getting paid to do nothing, although the other customer did buy something so at least there was a little money exchanging hands today. As Harper flipped the page she winced slightly, Damn it. As the door opened Harper, glanced up to see if it was someone real, or another bathroom seeker. She gripped a pencil in her hand and as she smiled at the person tried to slip it under her cast to get at the itch. "He-llo." She said, huffing at her futile effort. After a second she gave up and put the pencil down, focus on the person and ignore the itch. "How can I help ya?"

Who: Herbert and Harper
Where: Nevermore
When: Midday
There were only two places Herbert knew to look for Harper: her house, or Nevermore, the bookstore she said she worked for. That Dorian owned. And that wasn't actually destroyed, like some other shops, Herbert noted as he coasted up to it. Since Harper wasn't at her house, he sure hoped she was here. He hadn't seen her since she sent him off in a taxi, and he needed to at least make sure she was okay.
The werebear, his bruises finally starting to fade a little and the band-aids on his neck gone from the scabbed-over cut, locked up his bicycle outside and headed in. There was definite "Harper is here" smell, the minute he walked in the door, and he followed his nose over to the counter.

Harper had heard the explosion, it was loud and only a few blocks away. The sound of sirens and smell of smoke that found it's way down the block was reason enough for Harper to close up shop early. She did all the closing work and locked up before heading out. Things were slower than she may have like seeing as she kept getting flashes of flames, gunfire and other things that reminded her of waving limbs. Tonight was not a good night.

Shannon sat at the counter inside Mya's Diner letting herself enjoy a cup of tea as pale blues scanned over the classified of the morning paper, specifically the listing of houses for rent in the area, a couple having already been noted and inked with an x beside them. Things were still being held under consideration by Aiden, but that little hold back wasn't taken exactly as a hindrance by Shannon. If she could find a couple houses that her brother might consider as suitable, maybe he'd be more agreeable to their staying, or at least her remaining, in the town of Marquette. Not that she needed his approval to become a resident of the town, it was more that she wanted it. Without it Shannon would feel like she was going against him, something she rarely did.
Shannon's gaze glanced away from the printed page to cast up to the waitress before on the other side of the counter who kindly asked if she'd like a bit more tea. With a smile and a polite nod, the cup before her was removed and within a short minute a fresh cup of tea was set down in front of her. The moment that was done Shannon resumed her perusing of the classified was continued.

Submitted by keen_harper on Thu, 02/28/2008 - 21:37.Who: Dorian and Harper
When: Afternoon
Where: Nevermore
It was earlier than she needed to be (yet again), but after yesterday she couldn't stay at home. Harper had barely slept, worried about what kind of dream might follow the trip to the mine but she was kindly surprised once she did sleep that there were no dreams. She still couldn't stop thinking about that chest, and that feeling she got in the mine. With a heavy sigh she entered the store, and looked around for Dorian hoping he wouldn't be upset with her curiosity about the chest.
With the mysteries of the chest at least partially solved, Dorian had put it out in his car. While he preferred it in Nevermore, it would be impeding on business to keep it there, and so his trunk it was. The little bell rung on the door as someone entered, and Dorian headed up towards the front of the store. "You're early," he said with a little smile and a shake of his head. "You know I can't afford to pay you overtime when you do this, don't you?" He felt bad for it, but he didn't have the funds to do so.
