Trying and Failing?

Who: Jordan and Herbert
When: Late afternoon – After school
Where: Trowbridge park
The only reason Jordan knew what day it was, was because she’d had school today and that meant it was a weekday. Time seemed to just pass so strangely since Devon had died. She wasn’t even sure she’d made it to all of her classes today. She was pretty sure this is what they normally call depression.
Jordan, not wanting to go home and listen to her mother worry over her- the comment last night about ‘seeing someone’ being the last straw- she went to the park instead and walked. She’d really not been to the park since… well she couldn’t remember the last time she’s been to the park. Jordan was dressed in her normal dark colors, black jeans, boots, button-up and Devon’s trench. Her book bag was draped over her shoulder and her hands shoved deep in her pockets. As she walked her eyes ran along the trail, they were red (had been for a few days) but her tears were long gone.

Who: Herbert and Jordan
Where: School!
When: Lunchtime
Herbert stood outside the cafeteria, hoping Jordan didn't mind eating outside. The rain had stopped, but it was still a little damp. Maybe they could sit on the front steps instead of the grass, or something. But sitting inside meant he probably wouldn't be able to hear a thing she said, so... outside.

Who: Jordan and Herbert
When: Late afternoon
Where: The streets
Jordan walked with her arms wrapped tightly around Devon's trench coat. Underneath she wore simple clothes, not her normal goth spread, of jeans and a t-shirt from one of the school plays. She wasn't wearing any make-up and her eyes were very red. She'd locked herself in her bedroom for nearly three days since Chance came and told her of Devon's passing and only now did she venture out.
Her emergence wasn't due to some need to clarity, or reflection on the world or even to heal. The only reason she was out was so she didn't have to listen to her mother try to convince her to go outside, or to see Chance or to do something while trying to hide her own tears from her daughter. She was furious her mother had gotten so emotional over Devon's passing. She'd never really seemed to like him to begin with and was convinced she was acting it up for sympathy.
She wasn't really looking where she was going, her eyes focused on the sidewalk and her head down. Jordan sniffed a little, not having any fresh tears to cry at the moment and not knowing where she was going, all she could do was wander aimlessly.

Who: Herbert and Jordan
Where: School hallways
When: Between second and third period
Herbert was on his way back from his locker, on his way to PE, when he spotted a familiar blond head in the hall ahead of him, and caught a whiff, amidst the myriad scents in the hall, of a familiar make-upped smell. The werebear had hardly caught sight of Jordan since school started, for all it was a small school. Maybe it was all the tragedy distracting him, but he felt positively horrible for not seeking her out to say hello, at least.
Better late than never, though. He waded through the sea of people towards her, waving cheerfully. "Jordan!"
