Who: Olivia, Judiel and Herbert
When: Morning
Where: Olivia and Herbert's apartment
It had been a difficult night. And an even more difficult morning. Judiel had stayed, remaining in the living room where there was ample light. Which meant Olivia had stayed in her bedroom in the complete darkness, her eyes wide and staring in case those things came back. It worried her more than not only was Herbert in the apartment - but Judiel too. She hadn't slept well to begin with, but once dawn broke, exhaustion had to be put aside to fight those things off again. There'd only been three of them this time, clawing and breaking their way through the door. Olivia probably should have stayed in her room, but frankly, the protector inside of her refuse to let her stay hunched in a corner while Judi and Herbert dealt with those things.

Who: Olivia and Judiel
Where: Olivia's apartment
When: Afternoon
After bandaging herself up and cleaning up broken glass, Olivia sat on the edge of the toilet, clutching the butcher knife, and watched the once more broken mirror in the bathroom for what felt like an hour. Once she was certain no more shadows would appear, Olivia stood and left the bathroom, lifting a hand to the scratch on her cheek, hoping it wouldn't scar. Her shoulder ached where the things had torn through her shirt and skin, but with Herbert's help, she'd managed to get away with minimal damage. It still hurt like a bitch, though. And she was growing increasingly tired of the whole goddamn town.
Licking her lips, Olivia grabbed the doorknob and then hesitated. She wondered if it was isolated to her apartment, or if this was happening everywhere. A part of her didn't really want to know. What she did want, was to see Judiel. Only he had mirrors in his place. Which made her hesitate for only a split second before she realized those things could be attacking him too. He could be bleeding and alone, or what if he'd had an asthma attack with those things surrounding him? What if he needed help? Instantly, any remnants of fear were gone and Olivia swung open the door. She made it to his apartment in only a few, brisk steps before she began to knock frantically.

Where: Judiel's apartment
When: Early afternoon
If Dessicant had, had any say in the matter, he wouldn't have left the apartment today. Not since he'd left in the morning for his usual trip out to the lake to swim and sun, and he'd wound up with more of those damn shadow people following him. They were like nothing else he'd ever seen or heard of, and that made him uncomfortable. The only up-side was, they didn't follow him back inside when he'd retreated irritably back to the apartment.
Except he didn't have a say. Ethan's computer had broken down, the screen flashing blue every time he tried to do something, and Dessicant was the one designated to take it out to the computer repair guy Ethan had looked up in the phone book. After all, running such errands was his job. So he'd walked over-- the guy lived in Tourville, too, but in a different building-- looking over his shoulder the whole way until he got inside the other building, with the massive computer balanced on one more-massive shoulder until he found the right number. Upstairs, of course. He was wheezing by the time he got there.
The demon resituated the computer a little on his shoulder and used the hand not balancing it to knock.

Who: Olivia and Judi
Where: Restaurant
When: Lateish
A long day of working, mixed with uncertainty, paranoia and serving food and drinks, Olivia was more than ready to get home after her shift at Babylon ended. It wasn't too late, barely even ten, and she was starving. She had decent tips - more than decent actually, after flirting with three rather boisterous men while she served them glass after glass of whiskey and gin. Which meant, to her, real food tonight instead of mac and cheese and sandwiches. When she got home, she showered, changed into jeans and a blouse and tied her damp hair up from her face, ignoring the mirror completely, even though it still gave her a rather itchy feeling as reflective surfaces had for two days now. She wanted to get away from the things causing her to question her sanity - so whether it was a good idea to go down to Judi's apartment or not, she wasn't quite sure.
Still, it felt right, and she wanted to see him. She hadn't seen him since Sunday and she wasn't sure if that was because he was giving her space, or he just didn't want to see her. Mathias hadn't called her since she got back and she was fairly sure he was fed up. Maybe Judi was too. Hell, Olivia wouldn't blame either of them. Then again, Olivia hadn't found the courage to go knock on Judi's door either, even though she had wanted to nearly every night since. He was warm, and solid and safe and no doubt would assure her she wasn't insane if she told him about the mirrors... not that she would. Maybe... she didn't know if she wanted to see him give her the kind of look she was terrified of receiving. With a deep breath, Olivia walked up to his door and knocked. She knew he'd be home... whether or not he'd be up for company - her company - she was still unsure.

Who: Corwin and Judiel
Where: The Interwebs-- specifically World of Warcraft =D
When: Late afternoon
After a couple hours of working on his programming for his boss, Corwin figured he'd spend another couple hours rewarding himself for getting a particularly stubborn bug out of the code by spending the next couple hours before sunset vegging out. Or rather, working on a quest or a level-grind or something on World of Warcraft. Maybe one of his various "friends", people he routinely set up raids and things with, would be online and he could even chat while he worked on his next level on his latest character. If there was one thing Corwin was when it came to video games, it was patient; level-grinding kept him just as entertained as an actual quest or party-raid. Even better, it was largely mindless so he could chat while he did it.
So he settled down on the floor, leaning back against the couch, with several cats lounging around on either side of him. Poor Patches got the special seat on the couch-- she still wasn't eating enough, though she was eating, and his amateur castings and bandages seemed to be holding, at least-- behind him, leaning against his shoulders. From there he logged into the dwarven priest he'd been trying to bump up to level sixty-- he still had four more to go; he hadn't really been working very hard at it lately, what with everything going on, and he fully expected a couple people to nag him about it if they were online-- and as he moved the character out of the city in search of something to kill, he checked out the guild listings of who was online.

Who: Olivia and Judiel
When: 8:00am
Where: Judiel's apartment
She'd arrived home yesterday in the early evening, greeting Herbert and dumping her bag - heavier than it was when she left - in her bedroom. After a long, hot bath and a small sandwich, she'd proceeded to fall asleep on the couch despite wanting to go see Judi. Exhaustion after a couple days away, the sleepless nights, grieving and the plane rides quite simply caught up to her. Olivia had woken well before sunrise and blindly reached for the phone to call Mathias, leaving a short message on his cell to tell him she was home, if he'd even wanted to know. Even though they had kinda-sorta-weirdly made... plans? before she left, she still felt like she'd left on strange terms with him and the weird pit in her stomach didn't go away until she'd said goodbye and hung up the phone.
In any case, she'd focused on making Herbert breakfast before he left for school and then changed into jeans and a t-shirt before being unable to fight the urge to see Judiel anymore. Barefoot, Olivia left her apartment and padded quickly down the hall to his door. It was early yet, so she wasn't sure if he'd even be awake yet. Not like that had ever stopped her before, and it certainly didn't stop her now. She knocked eagerly, trying not to shift impatiently back and forth as she waited for the door to open. He was taking way too long in her opinion, and she lifted her hand to knock again, wishing she'd taken him up on that key to his apartment before.

Judiel felt sort of restless and lonely, though he was supposedly used to being alone by this point in his life. It was just hard, sitting around the apartment, nothing seemed to be keeping his attention for very long. He missed Olivia, and it was a twitchy sort of feeling. It occurred to him around dinnertime that he'd made a promise to check in on Herbert while she was gone. Which he was glad to do. So he tugged a shirt on and walked out of his apartment, locking up behind him out of habit and meandering on down the hall toward their door. Hopefully he wouldn't be interrupting anything. Herbert was a young man, after all, and now had the place to himself. Judi knocked and took a step back, slipping his fingers into his jean pockets.

It had been a long night. After sleeping at Judi's most of the day, she'd woken up after sunset, groggy and still fairly exhausted. As much as she had wanted to just stay there all evening, she hadn't want to make Judiel uncomfortable, or put him out in any way - not that she would have ever said so, since she knew he'd argue that fact - so she ended up going back down to her apartment to sleep the rest of the night, thankful that she was able to hide away in her room and feign sleep there without Herbert catching her. She still felt numb, staying awake most of the night thinking about everything that had happened in the past few days. It was overwhelming, and tiring, and eventually she forced herself to sleep simply to stop thinking about it. When she woke up, it was daylight, though there was hardly any sun. She forced herself up and off the floor to take a shower and change and felt like she was sort of going through the motions and trying not to feel like a zombie. She got Mathias's message and after leaving him a message she couldn't quite remember after hanging up, left the apartment complex, her hair still dripping wet over her shoulders and onto her wrinkled t-shirt. When she returned a half an hour later, she had a carrier holding two plastic cups- coffee for her and hot tea for Judi - and a bag of bagels from one of the opened gas stations. Olivia knew she probably should have been at the diner, but there was no way she could go back there yet. She would have to talk to Mya about her shifts, she supposed... scheduling them opposite of Brian. If she went back at all.

After leaving Mya's, Olivia had blindly moved down the street until she found a pay phone that wasn't broken. She hadn't wanted to make these calls with Herbert home. She hadn't wanted to explain anything. With the phone in her hand, she had struggled with it, given she'd not used a pay phone in a few years and apparently, it was no longer just twenty five cents which of course took her a few minutes to actually realize. After a few frustrating minutes in which she nearly screamed and tried to tear the thing apart herself, she managed to get the thing to work. And her dad's phone was still disconnected. The phone at home, in Maine, was also turned off when she dialed. It'd only heightened her nausea, her panic and she slammed the phone down, wondering if she might hyperventilate right there in the street. She felt frozen for a moment, unsure of what to do or where to go. What was she suppose to do? Sucking in a breath, Olivia somehow made her way back to Tourville, still wearing her work apron and smelling like bacon. It turned her stomach further and she wanted a cigarette, but realized she'd left her things at Mya's. And she wasn't going back there. By the time she got home, she was mentally exhausted after trying so hard to suppress tears and pain and panic. She just needed someone to tell her what to do because she really had no clue. No idea.

Who: Jovie and Judiel
When: Morning

Jovie was in a rather foul mood by the time sunrise rolled around and she had been able to get into her car and go check out her store. After the apocalyptic battle of doom the night before, she didn't have any real high hopes, which probably helped ease some of the anger when she stepped through the broken door. A lot of her inventory had been ransacked again, most of the glass shelving and cases smashed. Her computer - the one she had just gotten fix - was in a couple different pieces on the floor. She had run both hands through her hair, screamed for about five minutes straight, and then got to work. It took nearly two hours to box everything up and haul it to her apartment. She would keep everything locked in her bedroom until she could get her shop cleaned up and reopened - probably after the blood sucking bastards ditched town which would hopefully be soon. Around nine o'clock, she carried the box carrying her mashed up CPU up the stairs, intent on tracking down Nerd Genius to help her out. It hadn't taken much, a quick inquiry to the front office, an apology that they can't give out tenant's addresses, even to other tenants, and with a quick swipe of the old biddy's mind, she got Nerd Genius's apartment number. Apparently Old Biddy liked to watch Nerd Genius on his morning swims. Which Jovie fully intended to keep to herself.
Hoping it wasn't too early for him, Jovie shifted the box, tried to balance it on one arm to knock, and finally gave up, knocking against the door with the toe of her shoe.

Who: Olivia and Judiel
When: after sunset
Where: hallway, Judi's apartment
Judiel had debated doing this for most of the day. He'd wavered and waffled while he helped clean the streets up, completely unable to make up his mind. He had half an urge to just pack a bag and grab a plane ticket and go back to California for a while. Until either all of this blew over and he could come back, or he was able to send for his things. But he knew better than that, knew he wouldn't be able to just sit across the country and wonder how people here were. If they were still alive.
She wanted to talk to him. He was wary of why that might be, what she could possibly still have to say. But she'd risked approaching him, and he wasn't blind to that. And so, a little while after the sun had set, he went down the hall and knocked lightly on the door, leaning on one hand braced against the wall next to it. He hadn't showered yet, so he was still fairly dirty from the work of the day. He didn't want to seem like he'd been getting ready for her, though that had taken debating too.

Which was shameful, really. He'd lived in Marquette for quite a while, had made friends there -- most of whom had already fled, thank the gods -- and he owed it the respect not to sit around on his ass and feel sorry for himself while it crumbled. So he would do his part, though the effects would probably be small.

He wasn't sure it wouldn't put him square in the middle of a lover's spat, but he'd promised, and he did kind of want to know how Judiel was doing about it all. And know, if he could subtly sniff it out, whether he really did hate Olivia.
Privately, Herbert doubted it. Hate was strong, and Judiel didn't seem the hate type.

It took her longer than it should have to go down the hall to Judiel's after Mathias left. In fact, she began to walk over there several times, but had stopped and turned back into into her apartment. The ill feeling returned and she felt for sure she might be sick, but she managed to keep the nausea at bay long enough to finally stand in front of his door. She was going to chicken out. She knew it. She was going to take one look at him and turn and run away. Because Mathias was gone, and she could think now and she felt... indescribable. And not in a good way. She felt guilty, and horrible and on the verge of tears. But she couldn't give into those. Maybe she could make Judiel hate her, and it would be easier. It wouldn't take much, she knew that. But it wouldn't be easier, not for her anyway. Because she didn't want him to hate her, which was selfish, but hell, that was her, wasn't it? Because she didn't want to do this. She wanted to grab some clothes and her cash and run. Olivia reached out and placed a hand on the door frame for leverage. Maybe she would just pass out and not have to worry about it at all. Wishful thinking. Hoping she wasn't about to make a huge fucking mistake, but feeling like she might be, Olivia knocked softly, sucking in a breath to ease the churning in her stomach. She wanted to just scream in the frustration and confusion she felt. She wanted to run far far away from it. God. Maybe he wouldn't be home and she could just go hide in her apartment for the rest of the night.

By six o'clock, Judiel was worried sick. He'd been a little slow on the uptake figuring out what was going on the night before; some of the sirens had been outright ignored as he raided on WoW with his guild. But they eventually filtered into his consciousness, loud and persistent. He'd logged off, turned on the news, and seen bits and pieces of what was going on outside of his apartment building. It was after midnight already, and he started trying to call Olivia. With no success. He'd left her messages, thinking maybe her phone was just off. But as they hours went by, dread settled deeper into his stomach. He didn't think what was out there were actually the marauding street gangs or whatever tripe the news was blurting out for some groping explanation. Nobody knew anything. But he knew it couldn't be that simple. It never was.
By five o'clock, he couldn't take it anymore, and left his apartment, striding down the hallway toward her door. If she wasn't home, then he'd really freak. But then it was possible that Babylon had called a lock down or something. He just wished she could call him. If she could. Which was a horrible fucking thought. Intent on waking Herbert if he was there, just to see if he was okay too, Judiel knocked loudly on their door and stepped back, glancing up and down the hallway.

Who: Olivia and Judiel
When: very very early morning
Where: Judi's Apartment
It felt like rain. And even in the dark, looked like rain. Gray, ominous clouds hung overhead when she left Babylon well past one in the morning and she was simply hoping the rain would stave off until she got home, given she'd misplaced her umbrella at some point. She walked home alone, tired and feeling all new kinds of low for reasons she didn't even have the energy to think about. She was equally as stupid and had walked through the park once she reached it, unable to resist glancing at Mathias's house. Or Dorian's. Whatever. But it was incredibly dark. Which didn't sit well in her stomach in the least, but she kept walking and tightened her fingers around her bag rather than reaching in for her cell phone to call him. Reaching the apartment building, she made her way inside, trudged up the stairs wearily and without even thinking about it, reached out to jiggle the door knob of her apartment, just to make sure it was locked with Herbert inside, and headed directly for Judiel's door. She pushed a hand through her hair and then knocked, not bothering to think about how routine it felt after only a couple weeks to go to his place after work and crash.
This time, Judiel was asleep. In the bedroom of his small apartment, he stirred slightly, hearing the knock somewhere down in his consciousness. It wasn't like it was every very loud, and while a few weeks ago would've seen him sleeping right through it, he'd trained some part of his mind to listen for Olivia. He bubbled up to awake a little slowly and slid out of bed. Shuffling through the semi-dark into the also-not-dark living room and to the front door. He gave a cursory look through the peephole and undid the deadbolts, pulling the door open and squinting out into the hallway. He smiled, but in that half-awake way, hitching up his boxers a bit in the back. "Mornin'," he mumbled, stepping back so that she could come in. "Should give you a key sometime." He leaned toward her to give her temple a clumsy little kiss, and found himself hoping that she wanted to go to bed. Because he missed it already. The scent of smoke clinging to her snuck into his throat and he coughed once.

Which was fine and everything, he knew she still had her own life, just ... yeah, it didn't matter. He'd stood around his apartment for a while, looking at work he could be doing. He just didn't really feel like it. Nor did he feel like logging on and dealing with guildies, so there needed to be an alternate plan. So he'd ended up ordering a pizza and waiting for it to arrive, then heading down the hall. Olivia wasn't home, but Herbert probably was. And it was long past time that he officially meet and hang out with the kid. If he wasn't busy, that was. If so, Judi could come up with a Plan C. As it was, he knocked on the door and took a step back, pizza balanced on one hand.

The new hours at Mya's were going to take a bit of getting used too. Sure, it was only an hour earlier than usual, but she much preferred to spend that hour rousing herself enough to get out of bed, or even snuggling against Judiel for awhile longer, as completely cheesy as that sounded. Cheesy was okay, she supposed. It had been a pretty good last couple of days, despite everything going on in town. She'd done a pretty damn good job pushing all of the worries and confusion to the back of her mind to focus on something else for a change, and it seemed to be working. She just hoped she could keep it up for the next...oh, forever or so. Her shift was thankfully coming to a close and she was working on getting her last table paid and out the door. Or at least paid so she could be out the door. Stifling a yawn behind her palm, she carried their check to their table and returned to the counter, focusing on brewing a fresh pot of coffee, replacing the sweeteners and attempting to refill the salt and pepper shakers without spilling them all over the place.
Judiel had purposefully waited to deliver a freshly-fixed laptop to it's rightful owner until the late afternoon. Olivia had told him about the change in hours, and now that he knew when she got off? He wanted to make a point of going around. At least once, and if she didn't want him near her at work, that was okay too. Not like he was going to hover or anything, he just wanted to see her. Surprise her. Because she would be, he felt sure. She tended to get that way about things that he thought were run-of-the-mill ordinary relationship things. Which could've been because she'd never had a good one. Or one at all. Something. Regardless, he'd dropped off the work and swung by a flower shop to buy a single large daisy. He wasn't sure if she'd told him what her favorite flower was, but who didn't like daisies? He pushed in through the front door to Mya's, a faint smile already on his face. Judi spotted her almost immediately, and walked up to the counter right behind her. He leaned an elbow on it and propped his chin up, flower held below where her field of vision would be, and waited for her to turn around.

Even though it probably hadn't been that long at all, Judiel felt like he hadn't seen Olivia in a while. Sometimes his sense of time was a little off, he spent so long with his head off in other places. In any case. Judging by the time, he figured she was probably at work. But that didn't mean he couldn't get in touch with her in some form or fashion. He didn't actually have her phone number, so that was out, and even if he did, he didn't want to bug her at work. So, it was back to a more archaic form of communication. Judiel jotted down two notes in his spikey hand and padded down the hall, a couple of pushpins in one hand. He was whistling as he did it, not expecting anyone to actually be in the apartment. He stuck both folded pieces of paper up on their door, one labeled 'Herbert' and the other 'Olivia'. He had yet to meet the young man she lived with, but the note he'd gotten from him a while back had been a nice gesture. That done, Judiel turned and started back for his own door, pondering having another swim.
Olivia was actually home, drifting in and out of sleep on the couch in the living room. With Herbert at school, she took advantage of the comfortability factor of the couch as opposed to the floor in her still vacant bedroom. With one arm curled underneath the couch pillow beneath her head, she found herself drifting off again when she heard the whistling. It prompted her to open her eyes and glance toward the door as it got louder and seemed to stop outside of her door. And then there was movement against her door before it stopped and the footsteps began to fade. Curious, Olivia pushed herself up, groaning a bit as her muscles protested movement. Padding over to the door, she opened it and peered cautiously out into the hall. The two notes tacked up on her door caught her eye, but it was Judiel's back that gained her full attention. She stepped out into the hall, one hand still on the door. "You don't want to say hello?" she asked with a sleepy smile.

It was late when Olivia made it back to her apartment. She'd skipped going to the lakeshore at all that night because there was no reason, in her mind, to sit around and mope when she really had nothing to be mopey for at the moment. That alone was strange to her, but it seemed when you had someone to drink with, it made things much more fun and rather than allowing any depression to settle in - she felt good. Really good. Like...almost happy good. Could have just been the several glasses of ale she drank, who knew? Once she was inside the building, she bypassed her own apartment door for Judiel's without even thinking. She knew she ought to check on Herbert, what with his friends missing and everything, but she knew he was most likely asleep. And she knew from experience trying to wake up Herbert from a deep sleep was near impossible. It was okay, she had other things on her mind anyway. Like wanting to say hello to Judi, see how he was doing and all that. In the back of her mind, she wondered why she was the one always knocking? He knocked a couple times. But she knocked the majority of the time, didn't she? Why it even mattered, she didn't know. Didn't really care even, as long as he actually answered the door.
Judiel wasn't awake for once. His guild wasn't raiding tonight, so he was taking a break from WoW. He'd popped in the second season of The Office instead, and stretched out on the couch to watch it. Which meant that he'd fallen asleep within the first twenty minutes. That had been a couple of hours past. The knock didn't filter in through his sleep for a minute, and when his eyes finally opened, he wasn't sure that he'd really heard it. Judi picked himself up off the couch and stood, adjusting his boxers and stretching with a groan, before he shuffled toward the door and peeked through the little fish-eye hole. He saw Olivia there and smiled sleepily, opening the door. "I thought you were a dream," he told her, blinking against the light in the hallway.

Things were going really well: work was good, guild was good, and best of all he (sort of) had a girlfriend. Thinking about Olivia in any capacity always made him smile, so he ended up doing it a lot. No matter what his mother said. He'd gotten up and headed down to take a swim first thing. It was invigorating, and he was feeling awesome by the time he got out and toweled off. Awesome and hungry. He considered going down to Mya's for breakfast, to see if she was there and stuff his face, but he wasn't sure if she'd be okay with that or not yet. He'd have to remember to ask if she minded him dropping by to see her. It wasn't like they'd stated anything officially yet or anything, but ... yeah, he didn't know. Judi hoped to see her tonight, though, at least.
He headed back toward the stairs to his floor, whistling a bit, towel draped over one shoulder, enjoying the feel of his t-shirt starting to stick to his back and letting his mind wander. It was gonna be a good day.

She'd decided during her shower earlier to go see Judiel, since she hadn't done so the day before, but she suddenly felt as if she should have some excuse. Though she knew she really didn't need one. They'd slept together already - in the technical sense. So it shouldn't be so hard just to walk a few doors down and knock to say hello, right?
But five minutes later, she was still pacing, chewing on her thumbnail and wracking her brain for valid reasons to throw at him should he question her being there. Which was as equally ridiculous, because he wouldn't question her, and she knew she'd really have to get over the panicky phase of this entire...thing. Whatever it was. And then her eyes fell upon the television he'd brought her, and the box with the game console still inside. And as easily as that, she had her excuse. Within seconds she was barefoot outside of his door, readjusting her ponytail and smoothing down her t-shirt before she knocked.

It had been a couple of days -- a length of time that had just gotten a bit longer, considering the hour -- since Judiel had seen Olivia. He'd stayed away for that long, and it seemed like she had too. Which felt kind of bad, but he sort of had the feeling that he really should. Give her some room, time, whatever she wanted. But there came a point somewhere around eleven that night that he just couldn't really wait any longer. He wanted to see her, talk to her, make sure she was okay and whatever damage he'd done wasn't irreparable. It just so happened that he'd pulled in his favor earlier that day and gotten the TV he'd promised them. Free, and not too bad for the price, he'd taken it out into the hall and set it quietly down next to the door. He figured she'd probably still be working, considering her places of employ and he sat down in the hallway to wait. He didn't want to wake Herbert, and wouldn't know what to say if he did, so ... Judiel leaned an arm on the TV and opened up a magazine. Almost two hours later, he was asleep, head laying down on the arm over the television, mouth slightly agape, long legs sprawled in front of him, the magazine having half-slid off of his lap.
Olivia made it home, finally, after managing to shoo away the cat that had followed her from the lakeshore. She just wanted to curl up in her pseudo-bed and close her eyes, even if sleep wouldn't come, at least she could pretend. She made it up her stairs and dug around for her key to the apartment when her eyes lifted and spotted Judiel in the hallway. Next to her door. With a television. And he was asleep.
