Back to normal.
Who: Text messages from Charlotte to Kaysen, Dean, and Joshua.
When: Lunch time.
Where: School.
Charlotte felt better now that school had started, and fell back into the routine of it all with relief and ease. She was glad it looked like things could be getting back to normal, and with that... time to get back to the plans. First, she sent a message to Kaysen.
Hey, I know you don't want to go to the first meeting, so do you want me to talk to Isaac, Chance, and Thom, or do you still want to? I don't mind either way. I figure tomorrow at lunch on the sidelawn, unless anyone has any issue with that. Texting Dean and Joshua now. -Charlie
Dean and Joshua got an identical message.
Now that school's back on I'm looking to start those meetings I told you about last week. Tomorrow during lunch on the side lawn at school? -Charlotte
Reply from Dean
Sure, will be there. D.
..
Joshua hesitated over answering. It felt weird to have contact with somebody he'd met through Lullaby so soon after being dumped by her, but Charlotte didn't know that she wasn't even not-dead. So he didn't have an excuse not to answer, and he'd told her it was a good idea anyway. Because it was. So, he thumbed in a reply.
Ill be there. whens lunch for you guys? -J
.
Oops, sorry about that. Noon. I'm glad you're coming. See you then. -Charlotte
...
I can tell them.-k
Kaysen was still feeling off and down. She didn't even know if she was meant to tell Chance about the meeting as well or what. He'd kind of not been exactly gun ho about the idea. But whatever. She supposed she should.
So, she also sent text messages to her brother, Thom and Chance.
Because she couldn't come up with anything better to say to any of them, they all got the same message.
That meeting thing I told you about is on the side lawn at lunch tomorrow. Look for Charlie.-k
..
youre not coming? -I
Kaysen frowned at the
Kaysen frowned at the message. She'd kind of been hoping people wouldn't be reading in on that one. Just her luck her brother did.
Not tomorrow. Maybe later. No big. You still have to go.-K
..
It was Isaac's turn to frown. He knew her well, and knew that wasn't such a great sign. He initially typed in 'did somebody fuck with you?' and backed it out again. Overprotective much?
why not tom.? You want to be proactive, why am i going when youre not? partly your idea, right? -I
...
Goddamnit, Isaac, can't you just do as I say for like, once? Kaysen thought to herself, but totally didn't say at all. Instead, she just typed back.
people there i dn't know. wanted you to check it out first. you have to go. please? make thom go too-k
..
He sighed. Heavily. But he knew Kaysen, and that ... was Kaysen.
ok. I'll go and make thom go. see you on the walk home? -I
...
Chance sent a simple message in response:
are you going?
...
Why could no one just like, read the message and not pick that out of it? She didn't want to be explaining this to people. She wanted right now to be like...hidden away in a cave somewhere. She was also nervous, getting the message back from Chance. She still had that terrible feeling that things were messed up, and she couldn't fix them.
no. new people and shit, having people check things out first. but wanted you to know. -k
....
Chance shook his head, wondering if she'd really think he'd go hang out with a group of people he didn't know, who probably didn't care much for him, without her.
not going to go without you there.
...
She read that, and really couldn't blame him. Her brother would be there, and yeah. Just...yeah. She couldn't fault that.
k then. you don't have to. i'll keep you posted on what happens-k
