I know I've not emailed you in a while however with everything that happened last night I feel that you're the only person I know who might know anything. Please let me know if you know anything about the group that is terrorizing our city.
Maybe we can get together when things quiet down and you can tell me about your hunt for information on the cats have been going.

It's all right. I do know something, and I'd love to share as much as I can. I just want people to stay safe. I ran into one last night, and I'm pretty sure I know what they are. This type of vampire is called Acherus. They're fierce and very fast, they like to kill, don't understand the concept of "preserving a food source", and heal extremely quickly, even more quickly than any other type of vampire. They're hard to kill. They run in packs, and I think this one is pretty big. At least in the twenties, likely more, given how much was going on last night. They're very loyal to each other, but also very violent to each other. There is definite pack hierarchy, like wolves only with less posturing and more pain invovled.
To keep you and other people safe, I can't stress this more: STAY INSIDE. After dark, before dawn, stay inside. Vampires can't come out in the sun, and most of us won't even risk coming outside in the rain or on a cloudy day because the sun could come out. Not even Acherus want to die. We also can't come inside a home without permission or invitation, so as long as you don't invite anyone inside who you don't know, you're safe inside.
The only ways to kill an Acherus are with a stake through the heart, wooden and big enough not to break on a rib, or to cut off its head. Or to drag one out into the sun, but I doubt most people could manage that one. Fire hurts and might make one back off, briefly, but an Acherus will heal from that better than any other vampire type, too. Your best bet is to stay inside.
I'd love to meet with you. After this all is over, because going outside after dark isn't all that good of an idea even for me. Acherus don't like other vampires, and I suck at fighting.
