Movies Where Shit Blows Up
Who: Brian and Domino
Where: Domino's house
When: 8:30ish PM
It was a bit of a surprise, Brian showing up at Domino's place. He knew the other person who lived there was still out of town-- who wouldn't be, given all the vampire shit going on?-- so that much was safe; he wouldn't be disturbing anyone. He just hoped Domino was home, himself. It was after dark, so he'd like to think he would be, but Domino's sense of self-preservation could sometimes use a tweak.
Brian parked the truck on the street in front of the place, wanting a change of scenery from his own place-- he'd promised Marlowe he'd be back before midnight, though he didn't say whether he'd be alone-- and wanting to see the kid, both. It felt like it'd been a week since he'd seen Domino for more than a few minutes in passing, while at work or at shift change, though he was pretty sure it'd only been a few days. Regardless, it still seemed high time he stopped by. He'd even brought movies.
As he climbed the walk, trying to ignore the general wetness of everything and thanking whatever deity was out there that it wasn't actually raining, Brian peered at the windows hopefully, looking for some sign the cougar-man was home.
The hall light was off, but there was some light streaming out into the hallway from one of the rooms. Domino had the day off today and had spent most of it passed out only having woken a few hours ago, now that night had fallen he was full of energy. He was busy in his room working out a bit, unaware of someone approaching the house. There was a soft beat of music that could be heard closer to the door, sounded like a techno rhythm.
There wasn't much light inside, so Brian was almost disappointed, but by the time he reached the door he could hear a bass beat coming from inside. All right, so someone was home. And apparently listening to... techno? Ugh. Why was Brian dating a teenager again? He supposed he should count himself lucky that Domino didn't listen to heavy metal or rap, or something.
Shaking his head a bit, Brian knocked good and loud, and made sure the sound echoed nicely once inside, so Domino could hear it over the noise. That was pretty easy, these days, a simple manipulation of sound waves to boost or mute a sound.
Domino heard the knock and turned the dial down on the radio before grabbing the towel from his bed and leaving to get check the door. He wasn’t dripping wet, but his hair -was- a little damp with sweat and his bare torso gleaned slightly. He was barefoot and in a pair of sweats. He pulled the towel around his neck and used it to wipe the small beads of sweat from his brow as he opened the door- not expecting anyone, he was pleasantly surprised.
"Well, look who's up, about, and active again," Brian grinned at Domino's surprise. "Does that mean you're whole enough for me to get back to shoving you against walls?" He was teasing, of course, though it actually sounded like a good idea just then, looking at the slightly-sweaty, half-naked young man in front of him. Hell, that usually sounded like a good idea when it came to Domino. He held up three movies. "I brought entertainment, if we actually want to get around to watching it."
Before Domino replied to Dom's comments he stepped a step closer and gave him a slightly longer than a simple 'hello' kiss. "Feeling much better." He said gesturing for Brian to come in before turning around to let Brian see. The smaller wounds were now fresh scars and the larger ones looked like they were only a day or so away from healing completely into scars. "Movies sound fantastic." He replied. "Let me just change real quick."
For a moment Brian had a flash of panic-- they were outside, where anyone could see them-- but he squashed it before he could do more than tense a little. While they weren't "out" yet, exactly, they were getting there, and if two long-time and relatively typical Marquette residents like Marlowe and Manhattan could take it in stride without caring, maybe he was over-reacting. He hoped so.
Still, after a slightly-belated but entirely pleasant response to the kiss, he did come inside pretty quickly when invited. A lifetime of worrying what people might think if they found him out wasn't going to be overcome in a night. He tucked the movies under an arm and ran a finger over some of the better-healed scars, wishing they weren't there at all, but glad none of them seemed like they'd gotten infected. "Y'look good," he commented, following him further in so he could do the changing thing and Brian didn't have to stop the conversation for it. "They're healing well." And fast. Had Domino spent a lot of the time off work in cougar form?
"Always do. I figure some'll fade after a while, the bad one'll prolly stick around." He said, running his hand over the old scar on his arm absentmindedly as he spoke. "How are you? No more uncontrollable sweating?" He asked as he headed down the hall to his bedroom.
"Naw, I've been good and mostly keeping my will to myself, and to small things. Practice and the like." Brian settled against the door frame to the bedroom once they reached it, folding his arms and watching. "So no more backlash. I only get that when I do a lot of little things, or a big thing or two. Setting vampires on fire? A really, really big thing." He shut his eyes briefly, there, as thinking about that lately tended to bring up nightmare image rather than true memory, before adding, "And teleporting? Pretty big, too."
Domino listened as he pulled a t-shirt out of the bureau and a pair of jeans from the closet and tossed them onto the bed. “Good, it was a bit frightening watchin ya burn up.” Domino commented as he toweled off and then pulled down his sweats to change into his jeans. As he pulled the denim over his black boxers Domino glanced up at Brian. “Glad ya came over too.”
Brian grinned a bit embarrassedly. "Wasn't exactly a picnic on my end, either, b'lieve me. Thanks, again, man.... Dunno what I would've done without you there." Probably fried his brains, that's what, for all it'd have been a lot less embarrassing to panic in front of him-- and definitely not be here, now. They'd probably still be on the outs. That was worth a little embarrassment. And hey, he was glad he'd come by already, himself.
Domino pulled buttoned up his jeans and pulled on his tight 'let's show off the body' shirt. He then stepped back over to Brian and tucked some hair behind his ear. "I'm glad I could help." He replied. "So... what movies did ya bring?"
Grinning a bit less embarrassedly, Brian tilted his head into the touch, then held up the DVDs-- well, the two DVDs and the one VHS. He wasn't entirely with the 21st century yet, in some things. "Nice variety. Con Air, in case we feel like shit blowing up." That one was the VHS. "The Good Shepherd, which I haven't actually seen yet but I don't think actually has anything blowing up in it. And Once Upon a Time in Mexico, in case we feel like shit blowing up with Johnny Depp and a bit or two of Selma Hayek."
Domino grinned a little. “Fawn doesn’t have a VHS player, and I’m all for shit blowing up… so how about Once Upon a Time?” He said. “Besides a little Antonio’s good for the soul.” Chuckling a little Dom slid past Brian and into the hall. “Popcorn?”
"You like Antonio, I like Depp-- guess we'll both be paying attention at different parts of the movie, huh?" Brian laughed, catching Domino's hand to kiss his fingers as he passed before following. "Popcorn sounds great. Want me to set things up while you pop something?" He remembered the setup from their first "date"-- hell, that felt like forever ago.
"Yea, would be great." Dom said as he walked to the kitchen. "Beer or soda?" He called as he pulled the box of popcorn from the cabinet and removed one of the pouches.
"I'm a big fan of alcohol," Brian called back, investigating the DVD player. "Probably shouldn't be, but hey, long's I'm aware of it...." The last part was almost muttered, as he turned on the power and popped the disc in, but it was probably audible to someone like Domino. Brian really didn't know the extent of the werecat's senses.
The sound of popping could be heard as it started, it drowned out Brian’s mutterings. Domino grabbed two beers from the fridge and once the corn stopped popping he dumped it into a bowl. Grasping the bottles between his fingers and the bowl in the other hand, Dom entered the living room. “Drinks, snacks, movie, hot boyfriend… who needs anything else?”
Brian had been standing by the couch, and he laughed a bit at the compliment; Domino could certain talk the talk. He slung an arm around Domino's waist and tugging him over-- carefully enough not to spill any of that popcorn-- for a quick kiss before he let him put anything down. "Not much, from where I'm standin'," he answered, letting him go at last and plopping himself down on the couch, hunting for the remote control.
Domino smirked a little after the kiss and placed the popcorn and drinks on the coffee table before sitting on the couch. He sat at a slight angle, letting one leg rest over one of Brian's knees. "Glad y'came over. Seems like we haven't seen each other in forever."
"That's about how I was feeling," Brian agreed, settling back into the couch once he found the remote-- and grabbed a handful of popcorn. He was kind of hungry, actually. "Been too long, so figured I'd drop by. Maybe do something other than fuck like bunnies," he added with a grin, entirely teasing. Though he was sure that would come later. He added to the angle be settling over against Domino's side. Damn tall man.
Domino put his arm around Brian and leaned over to give him a little kiss. “I thought you liked that part.” He teased back. “Actually pretty sure you do.” Dom reached over and grabbed one of the bottles, he’d made sure to open them in the kitchen which was a good thing since right now one of his arms was happily preoccupied by holding his boyfriend. “So… movie…” He said with a grin.
"Who wouldn't?" Brian answer ed with a chuckle, returning the kiss despite the slight awkwardness of the posture. "I just like hanging out, too. Less stressful on the fucked up knee, and all." He was teasing, of course-- though sometimes said fucked up knee did get in the way a bit-- and he gave Domino's own knee a fond little squeeze. "So yes. Movie. With lots of shit blowing up and hot guys kicking ass. Much less exciting than sex." He picked up the remote again and hit "play".
Domino settled in setting the bottle down after taking a drink and putting both arms around the man. "I enjoy hanging out as well." He replied as the opening credits played across the screen.
"'Sides," Brian said in a stage whisper as the movie started up, "we can always get to that part later."
