My friend... and my lover

Who: Brian, Domino and Mya
When: About midnight
Where: Brian's place/Mya via Phone

Domino was wrapped around Brian's form, the blankets chaotically splayed across their bodies. His head rested against the older man's shoulder and for a moment the world seemed to not exist. This was Domino's favorite *ring* time. The feeling of bliss right at that moment was something that he *ring* treasured. Granted the stuff that *ring* happened before was nothing to shake a stick at, but *ring* nothing compared to the moments after. *ring* What the hell?

Domino opened his eyes and looked up at Brian. *ring, ring* Ooooh, the phone. Stupid phone.

Half-asleep, himself, Brian did his best to ignore the phone's ringing. It took a while for it to penetrate, too, but then he just groaned and freed up one hand from around Domino to pull a pillow over his face. "Damn phone," he muttered sleepily.

"Jus' let th'machine get it." Dom replied, pulling an arm up and around Brian's chest.

*rin-click*

The answering machine-- Brian had yet to switch over to voice mail, as much because this way he could screen his calls and pick up if he wanted to-- picked up. "Hey, it's Brian, I'm not here right now or I'm too busy to get to the phone. Leave me a message, I'll get back to you!"

I've got a really boring answering machine message, Brian thought muzzily, dropping his hand to Domino's arm and stroking it idly.

Then the voice after the beep make him freeze.

"Hey Bry, it's Mya. Just wanted to check in what with the rain and all. Wanted to make sure you were ok. Guess you must be asleep."

If it were anyone else, he would've just let it go-- though really, who else would be calling him this late? He should've expected this. Except he totally hadn't. As it was, he scrambled out from Domino's arms, trangled himself in the blankets and wrenched his goddamn fucked up knee, and finally got to the phone, all the way on the other side of the damn bed, right at "asleep".

"Mya?" he said into the receiver, hoping he was holding the thing the right way up.

God, he really shouldn't have answered, but it was automatic. And now his knee was hurting.

Domino sat up in bed, pouting slightly at having been shunned, but it -was- Mya.

"Brian? Oh god I did wake you, didn't I?" She asked, her voice sounding apologetic. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to. I just know how you get in the rain and when you're cooped up so wanted to make sure you were ok and not going insane."

Brian shot Domino a sleepily apologetic look as he answered, "No, I wasn't... quite asleep. Was jus' gonna let the machine take it, s'all." And changed his mind at the last minute when he heard who it was. He ran a hand through his hair, then set it to rubbing at his knee with a little wince at each touch. Ow. He was going to really be limping tomorrow. "I'm fine. Bit stir-crazy earlier, but m'fine."

"I'm glad you're good. Things were a bit slow for a Thursday, probably because no one wanted to go out in the rain, like you…" She teased. "So the close went really well and should be very easy for open tomorrow." Mya told him, hoping to make his day a little less gloomy.

Domino crawled from his side of the bed to the other end where Brian was. He laid on his side next to the man and watching him talk. He'd promised to keep things a secret outside of this house… but there was no rule that said that included the phone when they were inside the house.

Unaware that Domino was even considering making his presence known, Brian idly started running his fingers through his hair while he talked, smiling a bit down at him. "Probably not quite like me," he joked back a little. "Good on the easy opening, though. Since it's in... oh, four hours." He clamped down ruthlessly on a yawn. There was something he needed to tell Mya... what was-- oh. "Keep an eye on Marlowe for me, whenever she comes in, okay? She got the call this morning that her brother and sister-in-law in Munising were some of the victims." Yeah, no smiling anymore while he said that.

Dom grumped a little at that, ruined his opening. He couldn't do anything right after that comment.

"Oh god, she must be devastated. I'll be sure to watch out for her. If you want to just open and then go back home…" Mya sighed a little. "You know what… sleep in. I'm not tired in the least bit, and am probably going to be up in time to open anyhow."

Still oblivious to Domino's plans, figuring he was still pouting that he was on the phone, Brian just kept up playing with his hair. "Mya, you're insane, you know that, right?" he said with a fond little chuckle. Closing at midnight, getting up to open at half past four-- he just couldn't imagine that. Never mind that he was awake at midnight and scheduled to open at half past four.... "Are you sure? I don't want to be all... shirking my duties, or anything." Though oh, god, was it tempting. Sleeping in... and better, with Domino still here. "I'll cover closing shift tomorrow, instead," he suggested.

"That sounds do-able. Like I said, I'm not tired. Too much caffeine I think. Besides I was the one who stuck you with such a horrid schedule." Mya said. "I promise, we'll find a manager."

Domino liked what he was hearing, not having to get out of bed, in the morning when Brian had to go to work; being able to sleep in, maybe even a morning romp in the hay. He reached out and slowly ran his fingers along Brian's leg.

"Hey, at least I get to share the kitchen with Olivia and we can complain about early mornings together," Brian teased, but that time he couldn't clamp down on the yawn. Not even Domino's teasing-- if that's what it was-- could really change the fact that he was tired. He did shift his hand from Domino's hair to lace his fingers with the other man's. "Lay off the caffeine, gorgeous. S'not good for you. I'll talk to you at shift change t'morrow, okay?"

"Hey, I have my vices, you have yours. Lay off the caffeine." She said, playfully defensive. "You try and catch up on some sleep. We'll get this other manager and not only will you get more sleep but maybe we'll have time off to go out and catch a movie… on a non-Monday."

Dom kept his fingers interlaced with Brian's and smoothly slid to his knees so he was sitting behind the man. He slid his other arm around Brian's waist and kissed gently on his shoulder and neck.

Mm, vices, indeed. Brian thought he had rather more of them than Mya. He settled back a little into Domino, shutting his eyes tiredly. "Yeah," he said vaguely. "So there's no smoking potatoes next time, or whatever those were...." Wake up, old man, there's a conversation happening here. "Talk to you tomorrow? I'm kind of falling asleep here."

"You're to never talk about those again." Mya said, the glare clear through the phone. "Night Brian. Sleep well. I'll see you tomorrow." She said softly before the slow click of the receiver.

Domino hugged Brian's torso as he felt the slight pressure of the man leaning back. He reached out and slowly took the phone from the man's hand, clicking the button to hang it up. "Come on love. Back t'bed with y'."

Laughing softly as Mya hung up, Brian let Domino take the phone. "Never left bed," he commented, still smiling a bit, though it was fading again. That wasn't quite as awkward as he'd been afraid it would be-- for all Mya still didn't know, and god, did he wish he could tell her-- and Domino had been good and kept his mouth shut. He twisted around to face Domino with a mock-stern look. "But I'm not sure what I think of you trying to baby me."

"No'babyin' anyone. When y'moved I lost m'pillow." He responded with a grin.

"Oh, well, that's all right, then." Brian covered another yawn with one hand, then gave Domino a little shove back towards the center of the bed, following tiredly and trying not to move his knee too much. "Aren't you glad I picked up the phone? Now we can sleep in."

Dom flopped back to the bed and tried to fix the blanket a bit so they could stay warm. "Very 'appy. Sleepin' in is always a good thing." So was a good morning fuck.

After helping out with that, seeing as he was the one who got cold so damn easily despite how much heat he gave off, Brian settled in next to him again with another yawn. Vague thoughts of putting up stronger wards on the house and the diner crossed his mind, but he was too tired to really contemplate them now. "With any luck," he said sleepily, tucking an arm around Domino again, "it won't even be raining tomorrow."
