A note for Miel

TabbyShifted-FluffyTail

Who: Miel
Where: Her dorm room
When: First thing in the morning

Tabby could have laughed when she found which room was Spastic-Kicking-Girl's. No wonder she'd smelled familiar: she shared with Skye. So it was with ease and confidence that, well after midnight, she carried a carefully-folded piece of paper between her teeth up to slide under the door. She could find it when she woke up.

Bear on the Beach

grace bear

Who: Grace and OPEN
When: Early evening
Where: The Beach

Grace hadn't really had the opportunity to shift since arriving on the island -- in fact, she hadn't shifted since sometime before that to be more accurate. The bear was starting to get a little restless, and while it wasn't bad enough that it was effecting her work, she didn't want it to get to that point anytime in the not to distant future. So, as soon as her classes were finished for the day, she made her way back to her home in the village, shifted rather easily into her bear form, and after maneuvering the door closed behind her, she started to make her way down to the beach.

TIME UPDATE

default

Date: Friday, October 3 2008

Weather: It appears that the worst of the storm has passed today, though the winds remain high and it’s cloudy and overcast with a hint of rain in the air (though none actually falls). It’s muggy and humid, hot and sticky, but it is safe to go outside again and the waters of the lake have calmed, though the ocean remains rough.

Events: The power in all sites stabilises at around 2am and by dawn, everything seems back to normal. The grounds of the academy and much of the island though are a real mess with detritus strewn everywhere – it’s going to take some clearing up and people are asked to pitch in as and when they can.

World Events: During yesterday’s news-free spell, it appears things out there in the world have continued to escalate, with governments all over the world calling for calm. In Hong Kong a lion shifter was kidnapped and locked in the lion enclosure of a local zoo, though he was not hurt.

Power Outages Are More Fun Than You'd Think

TabbyShifted-Concerned

Who: Tabby and open!
Where: The school building dorm halls
When: During the power outage

Though some people might not agree-- well, okay, most people probably wouldn't agree-- Tabby thought the storm knocking out the power was the most interesting and exciting thing to happen all day. Let nobody say she couldn't occupy herself when there was no computer, no telly, and no lights, oh, no. Rather than hunt down a witch to share their candles with her, or even stare out the window in the dark at the wildly waving trees and dark clouds and wish she could go out there, she abandoned her room-- and her clothes, and her human form-- and went out into the halls.

Ever since, the little cacomistle-shaped Tabby had been scampering up and down the hall, sniffing at doors, listening for people who might be wandering about, and pouncing them when they were. She'd scared a poor girl already, but she'd been cute and sweet enough to make up for it, apparently, and found she'd quite liked the apology-cuddles. She'd even come away with a pretty gold earing that had "fallen" into her paws as the girl set her down, which was now safely tucked away in a corner she could go back to later once she was ready to call it a night.

Now she was looking for somebody else to startle, leaping out from the darkness of the stone halls. Whether or not she was forgiven and carried around for a few minutes after, or whether she'd be shouted at and chased away, she figured it would keep boredom and melancholy at bay, either way.

Who: Vivian and James
When: around 3:30
Where: James' Dorm and then Vivian’s Dorm

Vivian had gotten done with class and stopped back by her room to drop off her stuff. She was feeling very closed in with the storm over the last few days and needed to get her mind off of it. The art studio was in the other building so she couldn't even go there to get her mind off things. That's when she remembered James, maybe he'd be free and they could exchange poses, at least it would keep her busy. Vivian snagged up her sketch book and a couple of pencils and headed out.

She only knew where his room was because of their first meeting when they'd exchanged local information so they could meet up for this very reason. Once she managed to track down the right room Vivi raised her fist and knocked twice. She stood there in a free flowing violet sun dress, barefoot, hoping that he was in.

Supremely Bored

blocky mild stare

Who: Reid and Lauren
When: lunchtime
Where: senior common room

Reid was absolutely bored. And restless, which wasn't a terribly positive combination. On a day like this, with the wind kicking high, he would've gone riding, or at least for a run, but the weather was still iffy and he would've preferred not to get brained by a falling tree branch or something. Plus there was still another half of a day of classes to attend, once the lunch hour was over. Hell, the television in the common room wasn't even watchable, what with the flickering and all. Nor did he want to read, though his backpack was propped up against the overstuffed chair he was lounging in.

He sighed heavily, eyes drifting off to the window. He could see the top of a tree from there, and it wasn't making happy movements. Reid was sitting sideways in the chair, back braced against one arm with his leg hooked over the other. Marilyn was curled up on his stomach, head tucked, soaking up the warmth. He stroked a thumb over her absently, wishing for some sort of decent distraction.

Not Stalking

black dress/sultry-evil

Who: Nate and Lilith
When: Morning
Where: Gym

The storm, though the rain had tapered off, was still raging with high winds and debris everywhere - which meant Lilith's daily outdoor run had to be either skipped entirely or moved inside to the gym. Neither of those options sounded particularly appealing; she'd never understood how some people could run on a moving track, going nowhere with the same four walls around them the entire time. It was boring and unengaging, but it was better than sitting around all day until her class, letting restlessness build and being unable to pay attention. And since today was physics, she needed to pay attention.

Where: Hallways of the high school
When: Around 10 AM

TIME UPDATE

default

Date: Thursday, October 2 2008

Weather: The high winds continue, though the rain has mostly stopped. People are still advised not to go outside unless they really have to. Some of the trees are down and the ground is strew with debris (branches, etc). The day remains cloudy and dark enough that vampires don’t have to fear the sunlight.

Events: The tunnels reopen today, but the open towers are still closed off.

At 6:36pm, there’s a power failure in the school building and the power is out until 10:54, when someone finally gets the backup generator up and running. Power is not affected to the college, or to the village complex. That said, even when there is power, it’s flickering and on-off in every building. Internet connections are very definitely dodgy and keep dropping and there’s not much in the way of TV and radio signals either.

World Events: There’s a lack of news today – no deliveries are coming in by sea or air and electronic communications have been on-off all day because of the storm.

Who: Julien and Jillian
When: Evening
Where: Senior's common room

The storming weather outside didn't bother Julien in the slightest. Sure, it sucked that he couldn't go outside at all, but at the same time? Staying inside wasn't that big of a deal, either. He was used to being inside. For the most part. He wouldn't mind terribly if the weather cleared up soon, either, though. As it was, he was kind of... content, curled up on the couch with a book on his lap. At least for the moment.

A Day to Stay In

peaceful profile peacock feather

Who: West and Torlin
When: afternoon sometime
Where: West's room

It had taken Torlin a bit of time to ascertain whether or not she was supposed to go to the medial center that day. She had no classes at all, and was scheduled to put in a few hours, but with the storm and all ... she was told not to risk going over there, and to stay put or go to the library. Which she had actually done, until she thought that West was probably out of class. Tucking a few books into her messenger bag, Torlin had meandered in that direction, stopping every now and then to look out the windows at the raging rain and wind outside. The whole building felt quiet and like twilight. It was an interesting environment to wander around in, and she took her time getting to West's room. Once there, with a small dreamy sort of smile on her face, she knocked.

Having not gotten much sleep the night before, West was sleeping on his bed, fully clothed, when the knock at the door woke him. He gasped in a breath as he eyes shot open and flopped onto his back to stare at the door. Squinting, he wondered if it had been the thunder outside, or if someone was actually there. Rolling off the side of his bed, West got to his feet, scrubbed both hands over his face before rubbing his eyes with his palms and padding over to the door. He tugged it open, blinked once, and then recognized the face smiling at him. "Hey," he greeted with a sleepy smile, leaning out to brush a kiss against her cheek. "C'mon in. You done with classes?" West asked, turning to move back into his bedroom, unsure of whether or not she'd actually told him her schedule. His brain was still waking up.

So, were you serious about that thing we talked about? Because if so, I have it on good authority (aka my own) that my grandma, who has been ill for so long (bless her poor, ailing soul) has taken a downhill turn. I fear the worst. :-(

Any desired time frame? I expect an update from my dad shortly around any hypothetically convenient time. Let me know. <3

jen smirk

Who: Jen and Julien
Where: The Library
When: Late Afternoon, before the poker game

The windows of the library rattled dangerously and Jen's head shot up again, wishing, yet again, that she had brought her iPod with her. Usually she needed quiet when she studied, but the rattling of the windows was really breaking her concentration. The weather was not helping her schedule, and weather plus workload was making her stressed. And stressed did not make for a happy Jennifer. Not by a long shot. If anything, it was making her even more withdrawn than usual and that was not helping maintain her social image -- not that she really had one to begin with. Shifting the book in her lap slightly, she leaned back in the chair she was sitting in, drumming her highlighter against the corner of the book, trying to keep herself calm. She needed to learn the material, and that didn't really come from being frustrated. She clicked the highlighter on to highlight a section of the book, when the marker went dry in her hand. She rolled her eyes to herself, before holding out her hand to her bag and teleporting a fresh marker to herself and going back to what she was doing, looking to get this done as soon as possible.

Cabin Fever

missy glows

Who: Missy and Benny
Where: In the hall, near a big window
When: Right after classes finish

She was going crazy. Being trapped inside, with nights of little-or-no sleep and veins full of caffeine, Missy was all but bouncing off the walls. If she possessed claws, the little Elemental would be attacking draperies in an attempt to alleviate the swirling chaos that bubbled inside her tiny frame. It was the storm's fault; the energy it produced was damn near tangible. So much so that it had kept Missy up all night. And to off-set the lack of sleep, the sylph had downed cup after cup of coffee. Not that she'd really needed them; the power of the wind smacking against windows and walls, howling through open cracks and down old passages was enough to keep her jumping without the caffeine fix.

Girls. Still mysteries.

Who: Damian and Bas
When: During lunch
Where: Senior Common Room

Once classes broke for lunch, Damian had every intention of heading outside and stretching his legs a bit, rather than joining most of the others in the cafeteria. But seeing how it was still storming and students were being advised to stay inside, Damian opted for the senior common room instead to take a break. At least there he could get a soda and a candy bar... or bag of chips. Or something equally as bad for him. Unfortunately the rain also meant that he and Drea would be stuck trying to find something decent to do inside. He'd been hoping to be able to get outside and do something physical - in a strictly non-making out sense of course, but he had a feeling she wasn't one for getting wet as he might be. Books for his next class under his arm, Damian pushed through the busy halls to the common room, nodding in greeting a couple of times to friends before being able to slip inside of the common room and head for the vending machine. He spotted the curly brown fro once he stepped inside and grinned a bit as he dug into his pocket for change. "Hey, mate. Haven't seen you since school started." And Bas, and his fro, were generally hard to miss.

Be it rain, sleet, wind, or hail: Jon was determined to have a good time. After changing into a nice suit (carried in a waterproof garment bag, yay planning) in the men's room, Jon headed for a large unoccupied corner of the bar. He didn't have to look hard; the place was practically empty due to the storms. Jon nonchalantly plopped his duffel bag on a large table and started to set aside some poker decks and chips. When that was done he put the rest of the stuff behind his chair and sat down.

TIME UPDATE

default

Date: Wednesday, October 1 2008

Weather: The stormy front that was coming through hits, and it hits hard. Lightning is the predominant feature of the day, the electricity raging across the sky from the wee hours and spanning well throughout the day and into the night. Torrential rains hit on and off during the day, and while there are breaks occasionally, they're not that often.

Events: Again, students are asked to help with the storm, and today people are forbidden from using the tunnels, due to possible flooding. No one is advised to leave the buildings at all, and the open air towers have been locked off. Most of the windows in the place spend the day rattling like they might break, though they don't. It's dark enough outside that vampires wouldn't even have to fear the light.

World Events: Another death is reported among the victims of the shifter assaults, this one it has been leaked to the press had a serious criminal record, with a rumored charge during his youth of an unwilling turning. That can't be confirmed, as the records are sealed, and there are stories popping up all over the internet both trying to support the claim as well as dispel it.

Two of the victims of the shifter attack yesterday have already been confirmed to have contracted the virus, and it's causing a huge uproar. There have been two smaller scale riots that erupted that were put down quickly, blame being shifted around and no one is clear on who actually started what.

When you can't go outside ...

winky grin

Who: Bas and Katie
When: Around dinnertime
Where: Tower entrance

Didn't it just figure that the first day after the new moon featured an absolute deluge of rain, effectively canceling any plans to shift and go running that Katie might have had. Instead, she'd had the distinct displeasure of watching it pour all day with no sign of letting up, despite all the efforts of the elementals working on the storm. Still, there were appearances to keep up, and Katie'd been busying herself helping out wherever she could. She'd learned Bas was up in the tower working on the storm and, as dinner was being served, sweet-talked her way into getting a plate of food to bring him. Stopping by her room, she snagged a big, fluffy towel as well and headed to the tower. The thought of bringing it up to him and getting soaked was less than appealing, but she'd do it in the interests of sinking her hooks into him a little deeper.

Tuesday had come around again, and that meant that Jason had to show up to his counselor's office. The week before had just been some bullshit getting-to-know-you stuff, during which he'd kept his mouth mostly shut. He didn't expect this one to be any different, in all honesty. He just had more to keep his mouth shut about. Like Ari. She was all his, and talking about her could probably get him into some shit that he didn't want. So. It was an obligation, a court-ordered thing that he had to go anyway, and he wasn't terribly thrilled about it. But he could probably sit through an hour of mostly-silence. Just like he'd done back home, before they decided to send him here. Those bastards hadn't gotten anywhere either.

Serious and Not So Serious Discussions

Who: Damian and Drea
When: Sunset
Where: Drea's room

It had taken Damian a bit of time, but once the sun went down and evening activities had begun around the school, Damian had taken a chance and snuck over to the girls dormitories. He tried to be as stealthy and hidden as he could, given staff was still out and about, which meant he had to move slower and rely on his senses a lot more than usual inside. After peeking around the corner down the hall to Drea's room, he saw it was empty and hurried to her door, giving a quick knock. He supposed he could have emailed her, but the visit was a bit on the fly and only decided on after coming in from the rain with his mates in the courtyard. But that was all right, because even if she wasn't in, he'd just go track her down wherever she was. He knew her scent... he doubted it would take very long.

TabbyShifted-Lazy

Who: Tabby and Pavel
Where: The hallway
When: After the last class of the day

Tabby hadn't had class for the last two periods of the day, but as it turned out, there was nothing she wanted to do. Her room smelt badly and felt too small, besides, but she couldn't go outside. She didn't feel like being jostled around by the crowds, but she'd wanted a bigger window to watch the storm from, so there she was, out in the halls just after class got out. More precisely, she was lingering by a big window out in the hall with her backpack-- she'd half-considered going someplace by one of the windows to work on homework, but had yet to actually pull out a book-- feeling oddly forlorn. After the horrible news yesterday, the increased horrible news today, and the storm-- which meant not shifting and going outside to climb a tree, which oh, gods, she'd really wanted but couldn't have-- it was pretty much just a rotten day. Though she was tempted to shift anyway and climb people, she didn't know how allowed that was at the Academy. She wouldn't have thought twice about it, in Mexico, and might've thought twice but ultimately have done it anyway, in London. But here? She had no idea.

She could hear the wind howling outside the castle, and she was dreading the walk back to her house, and the rain that was going to be involved. She contemplated, briefly, shifting for the trek back to her place, but as it was the night right after the new moon, shifting was always slightly awkward. Also, the bear's poor eyesight would not do well in this low visibility. So she would just have to bear the walk back the best she could, and try not to expect anything less than getting absolutely drenched.
